(Columbia-AP) March 1, 2005 - South Carolina football players Brian Brownlee and Woodly Telfort are asking for a speedy trial on charges they stole equipment from Williams-Brice Stadium.

Both men r
equested a trial within 120 days during a routine scheduling appearance on front of Judge Reginald Lloyd at the Richland County Courthouse.

Telfort and Brownlee are charged with felony grand larceny for their ro
les in the theft of computer equipment shortly after the Gamecocks learned they would not go to a bowl game because of a brawl at Clemson in November.

Both of them are represented by attorney Josh Kendrick. He says Brownlee already applied for the pre-trial intervention program for first-time offenders charged with non-violent crimes.

Brownlee, a tight end, from Abbeville graduated in December. The arrest warrant states that Brownlee was videotaped on November 22nd taking two laptop editors, valued at $4000 each, and two computer projectors, valued at $850 and $1675, and that Brownlee confessed to taking them. The combined items being more than $10,500, which resulted in a charge of grand larceny over $5000.

Kendrick says Tedfort, a the fourth-year
offensive lineman from Miami, Florida, is not eligible for pre-trial intervention because he went through a similar program in Florida. He was suspended indefinitely from the team and faces up to five years in prison if convict
ed.

Neither player would talk after the hearing.

Four other players face misdemeanor charges for taking pictures from the stadium. They are to appear before a magistrate later this month. The others implicated are:

Dondrial Pinkins , a fourth-year student from Camilla, Georgia., petit larceny;
Freddy Saint-Preux , a fourth-year student from Brooklyn, N.Y., petit larceny;
Syvelle Newton , a second-year student from Wallace, petit larceny
Rodriques Wilson , a former student from Cross, petit larceny.
