MOUNT CLEMENS, Mich. (AP) - Detroit area authorities say as many as seven teens beat a blind man with his own cane and robbed him of $600.

Police said the man was walking on North River Road near the Gibraltar Trade Center about 6:30 p.m. Tuesday when he was attacked by the male suspects believed to include 17- and 18-year-olds and one juvenile. The suspects fled after the assault.

Macomb County Sheriff Capt. Brenda Baker tells The Macomb Daily of Mount Clemens the victim was treated at the scene and later taken to a hospital. His condition was not immediately known.

Police have taken four people into custody for questioning, but no arrests have been made.

An investigation continues.

Authorities say two brothers arrested Friday planned and then executed an attack on a blind man who had just cashed his Social Security disability check, robbing and beating 50-year-old Dan Perron with his own cane last week in Mount Clemens.

"They recognized the guy had money, they planned this, and they decided to jump him," Macomb County Sheriff Mark Hackel told The Detroit News, noting the brothers live near Perron and studied his schedule to learn when he'd have the most cash.

Update: The Macomb Daily reports the older brother is 22 years old, not 17 as previously reported by several media outlets.

The brothers reportedly confessed Friday after their arrest. The younger brother, 16, faced a private hearing Saturday in juvenile court, while his older brother is expected to be arraigned today on assault and unarmed robbery charges.

Describing the attack last week, Perron said a group of teens attacked him from behind, hitting him with his cane, knocking his head into a wrought-iron fence and making off with $600.

Perron on left. to preach peace

While he believes punishment is in order, Perron has used the publicity related to the attack
to preach peace and told The Detroit Free Press he hopes see his attackers rehabilitated.

"I hope they can prosecute them," he said. "But I also want to see them in maybe a turnaround program as well after they do their time to try to straighten them out so they don’t get out and do this again."

While shocking, the attack spurred an admirable community response, with groups and residents donating a combined $680 to Perron -- known locally as Mr. Dan.

Oh, yeah. A "turnaround" program. That's the answer. Right.

And "unarmed" robbery? The article said the feral simians beat the victim with his cane!?

They most likely have re-offended and next time around each will escalate the level of violence, probably killing their victims.
It is in their nature to love to torture and kill for the thrill, the black orgasmic response from the kill has been reported numerous times.
