ADL Demands Gulag for Dissenters
News; Posted on: 2004-06-30 00:36:36

Law enforcement should monitor Internet and punish libel and defamation, they say.

The Anti-Defamation League has submitted to the platform committees of both the Democratic National Committee and the Republican National Committee a statement of policy regarding Internet censorship. The platform statement puts forth ADL's position advo
ating a comprehensive ban on political dissent which they refer to as "libel" and "defamation." It details their desire to have "law enforcement monitor and punish" those who d
isagree with them.

Platform committees meet every four years in advance of the national conventions. The 'Israel-first' ADL has a longs
tanding practice of submitting its policy agenda to both parties prior to the nominating conventions.

Excerpt of ADL statement of policy:

The Anti-Defamation League is one of the leading organizations worldwide engaged in monitoring and countering hate on the Internet. One area of particular concern to the League is how to effectively and legally combat hate on the Internet. The Internet has become the new frontier in international hate, ensnaring both inexperienced and savvy visitors to the World Wide Web.

It is jarring and profoundly upsetting to go online and see such graphic exa
mples of how hate has managed to migrate from leaflets on street corners to streaming audio/video, graphic photos on web sites and hate-filled chat rooms.

Legislative and legal responses to hate
on the Internet... must be studied. Hate on the Internet cannot be entirely unregulated. Law enforcement officials... should actively police the web, preventing and p
unishing online... libel and defamation.

Internet providers and hosts of web sites should also be called upon [read required under law] to uphold... prohibitions against hateful materials. If their rules preclude their hosting hate, providers and host, when informed these materials are on their servers, should act to ensure compliance with their rules.
