SUMTER COUNTY, S.C. (WIS) - Two women were arrested Wednesday morning after an altercation on a school bus, according to the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office (SCSO).

SCSO said Sumter County dispatch received a report of a person, later revealed to be Shapoleon Sheqveia Hayward, boarding a school bus without permission Wednesday morning.

Hayward allegedly yelled threats at the bus driver as Janaya Mitchell shouted while standing outside the bus. SCSO said Hayward was told multiple times to exit the bus, but she refused.

Witnesses told deputies Hayward removed the keys from the ignition of the school bus and threw them into a nearby vacant lot. SCSO said witnesses then overheard Hayward and Mitchell inviting others over the phone to come and shoot firearms into the bus.

Deputies arrived at the scene soon afterward, but the two women had left the scene. After finding and returning the keys, SCSO conducted an investigation and obtained arrest warrants for Hayward and Mitchell.

They were both charged with interfering with the operation of a school bus and aggravated breach of peace.

The two women were taken to the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office Detention Center, but they were released after each posted a $10,000 bond.
