Fatal Shooting on Christmas Eve at Bar in Anderson County​

The Anderson County Sheriff’s Office is actively investigating a fatal shooting incident that occurred on Christmas Eve at Simon’s Bar and Grill on Clemson Boulevard. The altercation between two men resulted in gunfire, leading to the hospitalization and subsequent death of 24-year-old Markel Holland from Anderson, whose death has been declared a homicide. An autopsy is planned, but as of now, no arrests have been made in connection with the shooting.

ANDERSON, S.C. (FOX Carolina) - The Anderson County Sheriff’s Office said two suspects are in jail in connection with a deadly shooting that happened on Christmas Eve.

Deputies were called to Simon’s Bar and Grill located on Clemson Boulevard just after 1 a.m. on Sunday.

Once on scene, they learned two men got into a fight which led to a shooting. One of the men was taken to the hospital, but was later pronounced dead.

The victim has been identified as 24-year-old Markel Holland of Anderson. His death has been ruled a homicide.

Earlier this week, 29-year-old Curtis Nance was arrested and charged with murder.


Investigators say Nance was later found and taken into custody in Greenwood County. He is now in the detention center in Anderson County.

On Friday, deputies announced a second arrest in connection with the investigation. Maaliyah Durham, 24, is charged with accessory after the fact or a felony murder.


According to investigators, Durham drove Nance away from the scene and the two exchanged texts about the homicide.
