A career criminal who dodged a 2012 Bronx murder rap has been charged with gunning down a close friend of the victim’s family — just over a year after being released from state prison.

Deshaun Coleman, 46, is accused of killing 26-year-old Hasan Richburg, a pal of the sister of Victor Maldonado, whom he gunned down just two blocks away some 12 years earlier, according to police and court officials.

Coleman was charged with murder in Maldonado’s death, but claimed self-defense at his trial and got off with a gun possession conviction that landed him in prison until January 2023.

Police and prosecutors said Coleman shot Richburg “multiple times” in a dispute over a girl at a West Kingsbridge Avenue apartment building last month.

He was arrested nearly a week later and hauled into Bronx Criminal Court, where the DA’s Office asked that he be held at Rikers Island without bail — and the judge agreed.

Coleman, who is also known by the nickname “Boogie,” already had a lengthy rap sheet when he allegedly shot and killed Maldonado shortly before 10:30 p.m. Oct. 3, 2012, during a heated dispute between his girlfriend and the victim’s sister, law enforcement sources said.

Coleman had been busted more than two dozen times in the past, including for attempted murder, assault, drug possession and robbery, the sources said.

Maldonado, 19, was just days away from joining the US Navy when he was mortally wounded.

Coleman fled but was later picked up — with cops finding a .380-caliber gun inside his girlfriend’s apartment, authorities said.

At his trial, he claimed self-defense and was found not guilty of murder, and was instead convicted of felony possession of a weapon and sentenced to 12 years.

Authorities said Coleman got into a beef with Richburg on West Kingsbridge Avenue shortly before 11 a.m. Feb. 8.

Coleman allegedly shot the younger man, who stumbled to Caridad Restaurant, a Dominican eatery in the neighborhood, where he collapsed.

He was pronounced dead at St. Barnabas Hospital, the same hospital where his family friend Maldonado died from gunshot wounds nearly 12 years earlier.

Coleman is charged with murder, manslaughter and criminal possession of a weapon.

He is due back in court in the Bronx on March 14.
