Woman Sentenced in Boy's Death
COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) - A Columbia woman has been sentenced to life in prison without parole after she was found guilty of murder in the death of her three-year-old great-nephew.
Circuit Judge Reginald Lloyd sentenced 48-year-old Evelyn Benjamin Buckle to life in prison without parole.
Prosecutors say Cameron Buckle died from an overdose of several narcotics and drugs that were administered by his aunt on at least two occasions last August 26th.
The drugs found in the child's bloodstream included Darvocet, Tylenol with Codeine, hydrocodone and Benadryl.
Prosecutors say Buckle had taken out two life insurance policies on the child before his death. They say she tried t
o collect on one of the policies shortly after his death.
