CAMDEN - A city man was convicted Tuesday of slaying a Merchantville woman and wounding her daughter in a 2013 knife attack.
Gilberto Villanueva, 28, killed 50-year-old Suzanne DuRocher and stabbed 22-year-old Kristen DuRocher after breaking into their Prospect Street home on the night of Nov. 13, 2013, authorities said.
Villanueva was the daughter's former boyfriend at the time of the crime, according to the Camden County Prosecutor's Office. She testified against him at a trial in Superior Court, Camden.
A jury on Tuesday convicted Villanueva of murder, attempted murder and other charges.
Villnueva, who faces a potential maximum prison term of life plus 20 years, is to be sentenced Dec. 4 by Superior Court Judge Daniel A. Bernardin.
