Former NOPD Officer Indicted In Bank Robbery Plot

NEW ORLEANS -- A five-year veteran of the New Orleans police force and his alleged accomplice were indicted Friday for their role
in a plot to rob a local bank.
U.S. Attorney Jim Letten said Gregory Augustine, 28, was working a security detail at a Hibernia Bank branch when he allegedly concocted the plan to rob the bank with

help of Danny Foster, 40, and two others.
Letten said the pair was going to use mini-surveillance cameras
, bank alarm codes, and police response times in order to rob the bank.
As part of the plan, Letten said Augustine promised one of the employees $500,000 for access to the vault.
The two were charged on multiple counts, including conspiracy to commit armed bank robbery. Letten said the pair faces a possible sentence of life in prison.
