Things aren't going great for New York Mayor Eric Adams at the moment. The Big Apple's second Black Mayor has been surrounded by controversy since taking office, and it seems he is facing massive opposition. The latest to take Adams to town is Hawk Newsome, a Black Lives Matter (BLM) leader who controversially called Adams a "White man in blackface."
This isn't the first time Newsome has slammed Adams. In November 2021, after a meeting between the two at Brooklyn Borough Hall, Newsome emerged and coontroversially said "There will be riots. There will be fire, and there will be bloodshed." ?? The reaction was in response to Adams' policing plan, which involved reinstating the NYPD's plainclothes cop units. Adams has been struggling with policing, with NYC facing a massive surge in crime despite numerous efforts from Adams and his NYPD Commissioner Keechant Sewell
The showdown in November worsened but eventually died down. However, it's clear that he was not done with Adams at all. Newsome had some strong words for the Mayor over the death of 12-year-old Kade Lewin,? and they certainly weren't kind.
