IMMIGRATION POLL

Good Afternoon Fellow Georgians, With the beginning of 2004 Georgia legislative session less than a week away, we have had a tremendous amount of calls of what the 2004 legislative agenda will be covering. Truly, in true representative government, what do you feel should
be the Georgia State legislative agenda or what is most important to you?

In addition, with the new Immigration Proposal introduced by President Bush, we have received a tremendous amount (over 50) of
calls asking for clarification, more facts, voicing of opinions, etc.
President Bush's proposal if it were to become law, could allow Georgia's estimated 228,000
illegal immigr
nts to obtain a driver's license and auto insurance, get a checking account, buy
a house, etc. The President is proposing a temporary worker program that would let illegal
immigrants here alrea

dy i
n the United States receive legal st
atus for three years, if and only if,
their employer could not find any U.S. citizen to do the job.

What are your thoughts or response to President Bush's proposed immigration plan?
Good plan, something must be done on illegal immigration, and this is a first step. This is a form of amnesty for illegal aliens and enforcement of the current immigration laws must come first. There are current temporary guest worker programs in place now, couldn't it be made easier for employers to use these programs first. This Bush plan has no points addressing our Border security, homeland issues, this is my top priority. Illegal Immigration is not of great importance to me, we should focus on other issues.
