Haines City dad accused of abandoning son at closed police station because he thought child was gay

HAINES CITY, Fla. — A father in Haines City is facing child neglect charges after he left his son outside of a closed police station on Sunday night because he thought the child was gay, according to an arrest report.

According to an arrest report Evenaud Julmeus, 30, left his son outside of the closed Haines City Police Department on Highway 27 just before 9:30 p.m.

The report says Julmeus and the victim got into an argument over the issue before the suspect told the victim to pack a bag and get into his car.

The underage boy, whose age and name were not released, was "very upset and crying" when officers responded, according to the arrest report.

The report says Julmeus told the victim that the police would find him a new home.

Police say the victim was left without food, water, money or any way of contacting anyone for help.

A bystander at the department, who saw Julmeus drop the victim off and drive away, pressed a button outside of the department to report the incident.

Police say Julmeus returned home and told the victim's mother where he left the child. When the mother left the home to find the victim, she left two other children in the care of Julmeus, according to the report.

The report says while police were looking for Julmeus they learned he left the home and the other two children alone with no supervision or care ahead of the officers arrival.

Julmeus is facing child neglect charges.

Two-year-old spigger found wandering Bronx on Christmas morning saved by neighbor
By Reuven Fenton, Jorge Fitz-Gibbon and Ebony Bowden
December 25, 2019 | 3:21pm | Updated

A wandering tot was found all alone on a Bronx stoop Christmas morning wearing nothing but a diaper — but was rescued safely from the cold thanks to a good Samaritan and the FDNY.

Luis Angel Guzman, 2, got out of his family’s Irvine Street apartment at around 10 a.m., opening the front door by himself and making a break for it as his aunt and grandfather snoozed inside, according to mom Lusenny Guzman, 21, who says she had stepped out on a grocery run at the time.

Marlene Melvin, 40, was visiting her mother on the same street when she stumbled across the boy standing outside the apartment building, crying and barely clothed in the frigid 34-degree weather.

“I heard a baby cry. I was with my 10-year-old son, and he was like, ‘Mom, is that a baby?’ When we got in front of the house, I said, ‘Oh, my God, yeah, that’s a real baby,’ ” Melvin told The Post.

“The baby saw me and he picked up his arms like, ‘Pick me up,’ so I picked up the baby. He was just standing on the steps and the door was wide open. The baby must have just walked out of the house,” she continued.

“It’s Christmas morning, it’s freezing out here, and there’s a baby wearing just a pamper on concrete steps, crying.”

The quick-thinking hero shouted into the building but got no response, so she took the boy to her mother’s house and dressed him in clothing belonging to her own 2-year-old before dropping him off at the local firehouse, she said.

“I answered the door,” said firefighter Sean McAuliffe. “There was a woman standing there with a baby, and the first thing she said was, ‘We found a baby.’ ”

The firefighters determined baby Luis was in good spirits despite being a little cold and looked after the tyke until emergency medical services and local police arrived 20 minutes later.

“It didn’t take much to keep him calm,” McAuliffe said. “He just seemed like he was just happy to be inside.”

Added Battalion Chief Paul Luffman: “I come downstairs, it’s Christmas, and I see the baby as calm as can be in Sean’s arms.”

The Bravest said Luis was calm and relaxed despite being a little lost and seemed “right at home” in the firehouse.

“We gave him one of our firehouse caps, and it fit him perfectly. He’s probably going to be a fireman when he grows up,” he joked.

“It was a miracle. It was nice to see that people on the block were out and were able to see the baby,” Luffman continued, thanking the good Samaritan.

“They’re the heroes. They saw the baby crying across the street, saw he was in diapers in 34 degrees, dressed him and brought him over to us,” he added. “We’re a safe haven.”

Meanwhile, the mother says she had only been gone for 15 minutes to get some juice and left the door unlocked. She realized something was wrong when she got a distressed call from her younger sister, Celine Guzman, 14.

“My sister called me and told me,” Lusenny told The Post. “I worried that something could’ve happened to him, that he could’ve been hit by a car or something — something ugly.”

The family had no idea that firefighters were looking after their little boy less than 400 feet away at FDNY Engine 94/Ladder 48, the mom said.

EMS and police showed up to the firehouse, picked up Luis and brought him home in an ambulance.

“They were waiting for me to take him to the hospital,” she said from Lincoln Hospital — where the tot was sound asleep, still wearing the sweater and long johns that Melvin had dressed him in.

Social workers from the Administration for Children’s Services were also at the hospital, his mom said. ACS did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

Police filed no charges against the family, officials said.

The mom thanked Melvin for saving her boy.

“I’m very grateful,” she said. “I would thank her from the bottom of my heart.”

Added McAuliffe: “We’re just happy to see a positive outcome.

“The baby’s OK,” he added. “He’ll get the care he needs.”

NEW CASTLE, Del. (CBS) — A 10-year-old boy is now back home after being gone for days from his New Castle apartment. Shamar Davis’ once-distraught mother called police Sunday night.

Shamar was reunited with his mother Monday afternoon. Neighbors who helped search for the boy cheered as he walked back into his home.

It’s a happy ending for a mother who just hours earlier felt like she was living a nightmare.

Shaniece Moses offered a painful plea earlier as she was desperate to find her 10-year-old son.

“Why wouldn’t he come home? Shamar, please come home,” she pleaded.

Relatives and friends gathered outside of the boy’s home Monday to hide his face and escort him back inside his home.

Shamar, who also goes by the nickname Bubba, was last seen playing outside of his home on Caravel Avenue at the New Castle Crossing apartment complex on Friday.

“The last time somebody saw him, them kids said that they seen him at 2:30 playing football over there,” Moses said.

Moses says she knocked on doors all day Saturday and with no luck, called police on Sunday. They issued a gold alert Sunday night.

From the air, New Castle County police searched for clues as detectives canvassed the neighborhood from the ground.

“He does not have a runaway history. He’s never run away before and it’s an ongoing investigation so we’re trying to rule everything out,” New Castle County Division of Police Master Cpl. Michael Eckerd said.

Neighbors consoled Moses as they helped search for her son. They say Shamar is a student at Wilmington Manor Elementary School.

Volunteers placed flyers in local businesses. Moses held on to hope and her son was found safe.

Investigators believe he may have been with a friend.

Police say the investigation continues.

They want to know why Shamar was missing, what he was doing and where he was staying since Friday.

Missing 2-Year-Old King Hill Killed, Family Confirms
By Trang Do
July 19, 2020 at 9:40 pm

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) — The search for 2-year-old King Hill has come to a tragic end. The boy’s mother says detectives confirmed Sunday the child was killed.

Police are not yet releasing any details on the developments, but King’s mother says detectives confirmed Sunday that her son was killed and that they believe they know who is responsible.

Ten days before King’s third birthday, his family received the horrible news that the missing toddler would not be coming home.

“We don’t even know where his body is, he’s just out there laying somewhere. We don’t know, and they said that we might never recover his body. Whatever they told her, my daughter did not want to hear no more,” said King’s grandmother, Kimberly Hill.

Amber Hill says her son was supposed to be in the care of his stepfather. Philadelphia police say King’s stepfather reported him missing on July 7 when he realized a babysitter he trusted with the 2-year-old did not have him.

The babysitter told police she returned the child to his mother — a handoff King’s mother says never happened.

“I blame myself for even trusting my baby’s father with my son. I thought he was in good hands and he gave him to this woman, this woman I don’t know, that he knows. And now my son is deceased,” Amber Hill said.

Amber Hill says detectives and a representative from the district attorney’s office visited her Strawberry Mansion home Sunday to share the devastating update after a nearly two-week search.

“I can’t even get his body. Whatever she was doing to him, I can’t even get his body. It’s messing my whole family up. I just feel like this whole investigation was too long. I think they should have been incarcerated her,” Amber Hill said.

Police are not ready to reveal the identity of the person at the center of the investigation, but the toddler’s grandmother says the woman is an acquaintance of the boy’s stepfather.

“I’ll just pray for her. I don’t wish nothing bad on her, I don’t wish nothing bad on nobody because that’s not going to bring my grandson back. But I don’t want nothing to happen to her. I leave it to God. God will handle her,” Kimberly Hill said.

The family is very upset that an amber alert was never issued in King’s disappearance. His grandmother says police told her they had to know who King was with in order to issue an amber alert.

Philadelphia Police: Tianna Parks, Babysitter Of Missing 2-Year-Old King Hill, Charged In Boy’s Murder
By CBS3 Staff
July 20, 2020 at 4:18 pm

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) — Authorities say the babysitter of 2-year-old King Hill was arrested in connection to his death. The District Attorney’s Office and police confirm 24-year-old Tianna Parks has been charged with murder.

Police arrested Parks early Monday morning after she was hospitalized for an unknown reason.

Police say King’s stepfather, Marvin Reese, put the toddler in Parks’ care. Officers arrested Parks after the investigation uncovered cell phone video confirming the child was killed. Parks now faces numerous charges, including murder and abuse of corpse.

“The death of King Hill is an unbearable tragedy that is compounded by Tianna Parks’ actions. This precious baby’s family and community deserve to know how he died. They deserve the opportunity to bury and mourn him with dignity,” District Attorney Larry Krasner said. “This child deserved so much better in life. My office will continue to work alongside the Philadelphia Police and FBI to seek justice for his death.”

Investigators believe Parks killed King well before police were called about his disappearance. Police developed her as a suspect very early on in the investigation, saying her story did not check out.

“Witness testimony, phone data, call detail records, call logs, video evidence. The fact that she just kept trying to deceive our investigators and lead us into a different direction. All those inconsistencies in her statement, it all added up,” Philadelphia Police Capt. Jason Smith said.

Philadelphia police say Reese reported him missing on July 8, when he realized Parks did not have the 2-year-old.

Reese told police Parks was a friend who helped babysit King in the past. He said King had been in Parks’ care for about two weeks before he was reported missing.

The last confirmed sighting of King was on July 5.

Parks told police she returned the child to his mother at 31st and Diamond Streets. King’s mother Amber Hill says that handoff never happened and that she did not know Parks at all.

After a nearly two-week search, King’s mother says detectives and a representative from the District Attorney’s Office visited her Strawberry Mansion home Sunday to share that Parks would be charged with her son’s murder. His body has not yet been recovered.

“I can’t even get his body, whatever she was doing to him, I can’t even get his body. It’s messing my whole family up. I just feel like this whole investigation was too long. I think they should have been incarcerated her,” Amber Hill said.

Police are continuing the search for King’s body. They are asking anyone with information that could lead to the recovery to contact them immediately.

They were going to a corner store just a block away, at 4501 N. 19th St., and then heading to Nicetown Park at 4200 Germantown Ave. but they were not seen or heard from later that day.

Officers took the children to St. Christopher’s Hospital for Children to be checked out. Both they and their guardian will be interviewed to try to piece this all together.

No further information has been released.

SAN ANTONIO — The founder of a local activist group who has been vocal in advocating for reforms and divestment in law enforcement was arrested Wednesday after allegedly leaving her kids, ages 2 and 8, home alone to attend a Black Lives Matter meeting, according to a report from the Bexar County Sheriff’s Office.

Jourdyn Parks, 29, is facing a charge of abandoning a child with the intent to return, a state jail felony.

According to a preliminary report from the sheriff’s office, deputies were called to a home in far northeast Bexar County for a welfare check after receiving a report that children were left home alone. When deputies got to the home, they said they saw the 2-year-old and 8-year-old looking out of a window, the report states.

Deputies said the 8-year-old girl opened the window and began talking to deputies. According to deputies, the girl told the officers Parks “went to a Black Lives Matter meeting and said she’ll be back soon.” The report stated that the girl told deputies Parks “often leaves them alone to go to meetings.”

Deputies noted in their computer assisted dispatch log “children have stated their mother gives them medicine ti make them sleep while she is gone” (SIC).

According to the sheriff’s office, deputies were called to the home at 12:12 p.m. and arrived at 12:21 p.m. The agency said Parks did not return to the home until 3:09 p.m.

An investigator with Child Safe was called to the home and interviewed the children while also documenting conditions of the home, the report stated.

When Parks returned home, she was told she was under arrest, and she requested an attorney. Online records show her bail was set at $6,000, but Parks was released on her own recognizance.

Deputies took the children to the Children’s Shelter, according to the report.

Parks has called for city leaders to divest in San Antonio Police, and just weeks ago, she was seen protesting outside the Bexar County Jail following the shooting death of combat veteran Damian Daniels.

Hours after her arrest, a Facebook account appearing to belong to Parks shared a post which read in part: "The fact that you thought that something like this was going to be enough to stop me from fighting against injustice shows just how little you know about me. If anything, you just gassed up the grill.” It’s unclear whether the post was in reference to Parks’ arrest.

KENS 5 reached out to Parks on Thursday morning and read to her the sheriff’s office’s preliminary report, along with entries made by deputies into their computer assisted dispatch log. Parks declined to comment on the records, stating “I’ve been asked to hold off on giving an interview or statement regarding yesterday’s events and criminalizing single motherhood until after I pick up my babies and speak with my team first.”

KENS 5 also reached out to Parks’ attorney and has not yet heard back as of this publication.

LUMBERTON, N.J. (CBS) – A missing 12-year-old boy from Lumberton was found safe on Monday morning. Family members could be heard cheering outside of the Lumberton home after news that Tymin Coleman was located.

“I have not slept. I’ve been worried, I’ve been trying to be positive and be strong for my son these past few hours, and that’s it and I’m just so happy,“ Tymin’s mother Jasmin Jackson said after receiving the news he was located.

A spokesman for the Burlington County Prosecutor’s Office told Eyewitness News a citizen found Tymin in a park near Glenwood and Estate Roads, close to where he was last seen around 6 p.m. Sunday evening.

Once Tymin’s family reported him missing, investigators from the prosecutor’s office, Lumberton Township Police Department and New Jersey State Police kicked off an extensive search. Neighbors also helped search for the boy.

“My world just turned. I was upside down,” said Jennifer Jouvin. “It was just so scary because I have two 12-year-old grandkids myself.”

Tymin returned home Monday afternoon after being checked at out at a medical facility. Jackson took a moment to express her gratitude to the search team.

”I just want to thank everyone that helped today — my neighbors, the police, everyone that came together to find my son,” she said.

Community members also expressed relief after a stressful night praying for his safe return.

“When I heard he was safe, oh my God, my life came back to me,” Jouvin said. “That he was safe, because you always want a happy ending in stories like this.”
