KAMPALA, Uganda (AP) -- Unknown assailants robbed and killed an Italian Roman Catholic priest in northern Uganda, a missionary said Wednesday.
The Rev. Luciano Fulvi, 75, was killed in his house late Tuesday at a college run by Comboni missionaries in Layibi, about 233 miles (360 kilometers) north of the Uganda capital, Kampala. Missionaries found Fulvi's body on Wednesday with his throat cut, said the Rev. Joseph Gerner, a German priest with the Comboni missionaries.
Military intelligence officers were investigating the death, army spokesman 2nd Lt. Ronald Kakurungu said by telephone from Gulu. He gave no further details.
It was not clear what the motive for the killing
was.
