A British teenager was found guilty on Tuesday of murdering two sisters, as part of a pact he believed he had made with demonic forces to kill at least six women every six months in exchange for a future lottery win. Danyal Hussein, now 19, stabbed to death Bibaa Henry, 46, and Nicole Smallman, 27, in a savage attack in a country park in northwest London in June last year after they had celebrated Henry's birthday with friends, police said.
Hussein had carried out the murders to fulfill his side of a "contract" with the demon "Mighty King Lucifuge Rofocale," which he signed using his own blood, promising to "perform a minimum of six sacrifices every six months for as long as I am free and physically capable," police told reporters.
Hussein wrote that he hoped his reward would be to "win the Mega Millions Super Jackpot," and police found three lottery tickets he had bought after the murders.
"I am totally convinced and my team are that he would have gone on to commit more murders," Detective Chief Inspector Simon Harding, who led the investigation, said.
"It is difficult for any normal person to comprehend. It's almost sort of movie like."
Close sisters Henry and Smallman had gone to Wembley's Fryent Park to celebrate with friends but stayed alone into the early hours. They took 150 photos, Harding said, with the last "haunting" picture showing them looking sideways at what police believe was the arrival of Hussein.
He stabbed Henry eight times and Smallman suffered 28 wounds after putting up a "very brave fight," Harding said. After the murders, he dragged the bodies into woodland where they were found intertwined the following day by Smallman's boyfriend.
Hussein, who lived with his mother, was traced by bloodstains found at the scene and was arrested almost four weeks later, police told reporters. They believe only a hand injury he suffered during the murders prevented him carrying out further killings.
When detectives searched his house, they found his contract and lottery tickets. There were also satanic symbols and a handwritten book of spells, including ones to make women find him attractive, police said.
Hussein denied involvement throughout, claiming it was an elaborate conspiracy, but a jury at London's Old Bailey court found him guilty of the murders. He will be sentenced at a later date.
Police said it was unclear how he became fascinated with the occult. Officers knew he had accessed the dark web, but could not get access to his account as he refused to give his passwords. He also had an iPad which they could not unlock.
Material they could see showed he chatted to other people online but this was more to do with love spells, police told reporters.
Harding described Hussein, who had been planning to go to a summer camp in the United States, as a "very arrogant young man" but otherwise unremarkable. He had been diagnosed with autism, but had no involvement with mental health services.
The teenager, who detectives said had shown evidence of some far-right thoughts, was referred by his school in 2017 to Britain's counter-extremism program but was discharged with no outstanding concerns the following year, police told reporters.
To compound the victims' suffering, two police officers were charged with misconduct in public office for taking "inappropriate" photographs at the murder scene and sharing them on WhatsApp.
The victims' mother, Mina Smallman, a retired Church of England archdeacon, thanked police on Tuesday for helping to bring Hussein to justice.
"Today we remember our girls as the wonderful strong women they were. We hope that some good will come out of this horrible story," she told reporters.

Danyal Hussein, then 18, butchered Bibaa Henry, 46, and Nicole Smallman, 27, as part of his pledge to “sacrifice” six women every six months. Police found the handwritten “contract” in a TV stand at his home – signed in his blood. The victims’ mother, Mina Smallman, told the Old Bailey in an impact statement: “No one expects their children to die before them, but to have two of your three children murdered overnight is just incomprehensible.”

Hussein, now 19, stabbed the half-sisters in Fryent Country Park, Wembley, north-west London, in the early hours of June 6 last year.
Ms Smallman, a retired archdeacon, said losing her two girls was “enough to shake a person’s faith –fortunately it did not”.
Listening to the detail of how her daughters died was “horrific” and made her think “this person cannot have a heart”. She added: “If any good comes out of this at least another four women will not meet a similar end in a so-called pact with a so-called demon...I have never come across such evil.”
Three jurors wept as the statement was read out. Hussein shook his head.
Describing the moment when she was told her daughters’ bodies had been found, Ms Smallman said: “I instantly fell to my knees and began screaming, screaming and screaming...”
Bibaa’s father Herman Henry said: “As a boxer, I’m used to taking punches and being knocked down, but nothing compares to this. I still can’t believe she has gone.”

The sisters and their friends had gone to the park for a picnic to celebrate social worker Bibaa’s 46th birthday on June 5.
They spent several hours eating, drinking and dancing before their friends went home at midnight. The sisters stayed on, unaware their killer was watching them from the undergrowth.
The women then danced with fairy lights, with Bibaa’s phone taking 150 photos of them using a “clicker”. The last image was taken at 1am and shows the sisters suddenly look to their left.
Det Chief Insp Simon Harding said: “We have always believed their attention was drawn to the appearance of Danyal Hussein.”
Hussein attacked Bibaa first, stabbing her eight times. Nicole put up a “very brave fight” and suffered 28 wounds, the detective said.

Demon-obsessed teenager convicted of murdering UK sisters

LONDON — A 19-year-old British man was convicted Tuesday of murdering two sisters as they celebrated a birthday in a London park, a crime driven by the deluded belief that the killings would help him win a lottery jackpot.
A jury at London's Central Criminal Court deliberated for eight hours before finding Danyal Hussein guilty of fatally stabbing Bibaa Henry, 46, and Nicole Smallman, 27, at Fryent Country Park in June 2020.
Prosecutors said Hussein, who did not know the victims, had pledged to kill six women every six months in the belief he would win the Mega Millions Super Jackpot lottery. They said the suspect was obsessed with demons and spells, and had signed a pact in his blood with a mythical figure known as King Lucifuge.

He was traced through DNA
after cutting himself as he attacked the sisters.
The victims' mother, Mina Smallman, a retired Church of England archdeacon, has criticized the way police responded when her daughters were reported missing on the evening of June 6, 2020. She has said officers showed a lack of urgency after looking at one daughter's address and seeing her as "a Black woman who lives on a council (public housing) estate."

The family launched its own search, and the sisters' bodies were found in bushes by Nicole Smallman's boyfriend 36 hours after the killings. Family members found the weapon used in the slayings nearby.
Britain's police watchdog is investigating the way officers handled the missing-persons report. Two police officers have also been charged with misconduct in public office for allegedly sharing pictures of the crime scene on WhatsApp.
Outside court, Mina Smallman said that while she had "made no bones" about her criticism of London's Metropolitan Police, "today I have to say that I can only commend them."
"This team moved heaven and earth to ensure we felt that we were being supported. This is the kind of police force that I believe in and we need to work towards so we have justice and families are treated with respect.

"Today, we remember our girls as the wonderful, strong women they were, and we hope that some good will come out of this horrible story," she said.
Police revealed after Hussein's conviction that he had been sent to a de-radicalization program at age 15 when his school became concerned he was vulnerable to violent extremism.
Detective Chief Inspector Simon Harding, the senior investigating officer, said Hussein was "a very, very dangerous individual."
"I firmly believe he would have carried out his contract," Harding said. "He would have carried on killing women, until he had killed the first six, if he had not won the lottery by that stage — every six months is what he said.

"He is where he should be and will be for a very long time."
Hussein is due to be sentenced on Sept. 22.
