WASHINGTON (AP) - Federal prosecutors say a North Carolina man has been indicted on charges of illegally exporting controlled computer equipment to Libya.
59-year-old Mohammed El-Gamal of Raleigh was indicted by a Washington grand jury and arrested Wednesday in Raleigh. He was released on $1 million cash bond and agreed to surrender his passport.
The four-count indictment alleges that El-Gamal exported or tried to export computer equipment, including items controlled for national security and anti-terrorism reasons, to Libya in 2006.
El-Gamal's arraignment is set for May 27 in U.S. District Court in Washington.
