The man who barricaded himself inside a West Baltimore home for more than six hours Saturday has been arrested and charged with sexually assaulting his live-in girlfriend during the incident, city police said on Sunday.

Lenny Epps, 55, of the 2700 block of Baker Street, barricaded himself inside the Coppin Heights home he shared with a 36-year-old woman. Police said the incident began around 10 a.m. Saturday. Officers responded around 3:30 p.m., and Epps surrendered peacefully around 9:40 p.m., according to police.

The woman escaped the home around 3:30 p.m., telling officers she climbed to the roof of the home and jumped to the ground. She told police a man inside the home assaulted her and was armed. She was transported to an area hospital, police said.

Police on Sunday said Epps was charged with rape, involuntary detention, assault and weapons charges.
