A Manhattan bank robber made off with $1,200 — but was arrested soon after on the Henry Hudson Parkway when cops used a bank-installed GPS device to track him down in a yellow cab, police said.

Omari Moore, 33, knocked off the TD Bank on West 23rd St. in Chelsea at about 4:50 p.m. by passing the teller a note demanding dough, cops said.

Moore got his haul — and more, as the teller handed him a bag of cash with a dye pack and a tracking device, police said.

The thief fled and eventually hailed a cab.

His freedom didn’t last long, as cops tracked down his getaway ride down on the Henry Hudson Parkway near West 93rd St. on the Upper West Side, cops said. It’s unclear if the dye pack detonated.

Moore was charged with robbery and criminal possession of stolen property.

Dapper ‘Burberry Bandit’ back robbing Manhattan banks: cops
By Laura Italiano
July 6, 2019 | 12:24am

manhattan-bank-rob.jpg

Manhattan’s “Burberry Bandit” is back.

It’s only been five months since dapper robber Cornell Neilly was paroled from prison, but cops say he’s already back hitting banks.

Neilly, 38, has been linked to seven Manhattan bank robberies in the two weeks from June 22 to July 3, police said. All but one were Chase Banks; the other was a Citibank.

He was successful four out of the seven tries, and has so far pocketed a total $10,600, police said.

Neilly gained local fame back in 2012, when he was busted for a string of 14 Manhattan bank heists.

He was caught on surveillance camera wearing a $250 Burberry shirt for some of the robberies, and later admitted to cops that he needed the cash to fuel his designer clothing shopping addiction.

Neilly also couldn’t spell. Police collected 13 of the bank robbery notes he’d handed to tellers, and discovered he’d spelled the word “robbery” wrong in 11 of them.

“THIS IS A ROBBY,” some of his notes read.

Police could not immediately confirm what Neilly allegedly wore on his latest spree — or whether his spelling has improved.

Neilly had been sentenced to five-to-ten years prison for the 2012 heists, which netted him about $8,500. He was paroled in January, records show.

Manhattan’s “Burberry Bandit” was busted for a fresh string of bank heists, police said Monday.

Cornell Neilly, a serial bank-robber on parole, has been apprehended—again—for a series of bank robberies in Midtown over the past few weeks,” a post on NYPD Chief of Detectives Dermot Shea’s official Twitter account said Monday. “Great work by the Fugitive Enforcement Division and all involved.”

Neilly, 38, has been linked to seven Manhattan bank robberies in the two weeks from June 22 to July 3, police said. All but one were Chase Banks; the other was a Citibank.

He was successful four out of the seven tries. He pocketed $10,600, police said.

The crook gained fame in 2012, when he was busted for a string of 14 Manhattan bank robberies.

The robber dubbed the ‘Burberry Bandit’ for his love of high-end fashion was indicted Monday in connection to a string of Manhattan bank heists.

Prosecutors announced the indictment against Cornell Neilly, 38, during a brief hearing in Manhattan Criminal Court. His appearance was waived.

The exact charges against him will remain sealed until his Manhattan Supreme Court arraignment. The bank-loving bandit was charged last week with a dozen counts of grand larceny, robbery and attempted robbery.

He hit nine Chase Banks and one Citibank between June 22 and July 10 using handwritten notes to demand cash.

Court papers say that on June 22, at 10:30 a.m., he strolled into a Chase Bank at 405 Lexington Avenue near 43rd Street and slipped the teller a note: “This is a robbery. Give me 50s and 100s. Please give note back.”

Although he left empty-handed at three locations, the dapper crook made off with a total of $15,250 during the spree.

On July 5, at 1:18 p.m., Neilly was met with disappointment after getting a measly $150. “That’s it?” he asked, according to the complaint.

Neilly earned his moniker in 2012 after he was busted for 14 Manhattan bank heists. For some of the robberies, he was captured on surveillance video wearing a $250 Burberry shirt and later told cops he needed the cash for designer clothes.

Suspect in Cleveland bank robbery writes demand note on document with his name, address

CLEVELAND-- A Cleveland bank robber is providing a new chapter in the book World's Dumbest Criminals.:D

It was just after 11 a.m. on Monday that a man walked up to the counter at the U.S. Bank branch at 7993 Euclid Ave. on the city’s east side and passed a note, demanding money.

"When the teller took the note, and looked at it and looked at the other side, she saw his name. He had used a note that he had used earlier at the BMV and it had his name on it,” said Special Agent Vicki Anderson, of the Cleveland Office of the FBI.

Authorities say as 54-year-old Michael Harrell was robbing the bank, he actually wrote the hold-up note on the back of a document from the Ohio Bureau of Motor Vehicles, complete with his name and address. Investigators said the teller was stunned.

"She actually even referred to him as Michael,” Anderson said. “Gave him the money and called him Michael and then notified law enforcement."

Once authorities confirmed that Harrell was the same man caught on surveillance cameras robbing the bank, a warrant was quickly issued for his arrest.

The FBI said this is not the first time that a bank robber has left an incriminating piece of evidence at the scene, but in each case, it makes the job of finding the suspect a lot easier.

"Burberry Bandit" Cornell Neilly at an arraignment in 2012

Manhattan’s notorious “Burberry Bandit” bank robber was released from jail under the state’s new bail reform laws — only to be bagged again after he allegedly tried to knock over the same lender as before.

Cornell Neilly, 29, who has been busted for more than a dozen bank robberies since 2012, had been out of jail less than a month when he waltzed into a Chase Bank branch on Lexington Avenue on Saturday and handed the teller a note reading, “This is a robbery. $3500 now. Thanks,” prosecutors said.

Neilly lost his nerve when the teller alerted her supervisor — and he ran off, only to be nabbed 45 minutes later, prosecutors said.

“The defendant admitted to the incident and, channeling famed bank robber Willie Sutton, said, ‘I did it because I need the money,'” Assistant District Attorney Jillian Shartrand said during Neilly’s arraignment Sunday. “As the defendant himself noted, he just got out of jail on Dec. 16 because of bail reform.”

Shartrand said he was released “in spite of being charged with stealing over $14,000 from various banks, including the same bank he is charged with trying to rob on Jan. 4.”

Neilly earned the “Burberry” tag after a security camera at one bank caught him wearing a pricey Burberry shirt during one 2012 heist.

That robbery was one of more than a dozen that prosecutors said Neilly attempted or pulled off in 2012. He was sentenced to five to 10 years in prison on those charges in 2014.

New York state inmate records show that he was paroled from the Queensboro Correctional Facility in Long Island City on Jan. 24, 2019.

It didn’t take him long to get back into the game, authorities said.

Neilly was linked to at least seven new bank robberies over a two-week period between June 22 and July 3 — six of them Chase bank branches and the seventh a Citibank.

Among those was a Chase branch on Lexington Avenue, where he walked away with $3,500 on July 10 — the same bank he allegedly tried to rob on Saturday, according to prosecutors.

He was later indicted on charges that he robbed or attempted to rob as many as nine banks on July 29.

He remained behind bars pending trial on those charges until he was released last month under the controversial new bail reform measures — and went back to work.

Neilly is now being held for violating his parole. It was not clear Wednesday why his July arrest did not trigger a similar parole violation that could have kept him in jail despite bail reform.

‘Burberry Bandit’ indicted by federal grand jury on 13 counts

Cornell Neilly was sprung from state jail in December 2019 because of New York's bail reform law.

The notorious Manhattan bank robber known as the “Burberry Bandit” because of his taste for designer clothes was slapped with a 13-count indictment by a federal grand jury for an alleged robbery spree in 2019 and 2020.

Cornell Neilly
, who has been accused in state court of more than a dozen bank robberies since 2012, has also been hit with six bank robbery charges and seven attempted bank robbery charges in a federal indictment unsealed Thursday in Manhattan federal court.

The indictment alleges that from late June 2019 to July 10, 2019, Neilly attempted to rob or robbed nine Midtown banks.

On July 3, 2019, Neilly attempted to knock off a bank on Park Avenue near 33rd Street by passing a teller a note, but left empty-handed, according to the indictment. A short time later, he swiped $1,000 from a bank on Ninth Avenue near 55th Street.

The serial robber was indicted in state court after the spree, The Post reported at the time, but he continued to pull off heists in the winter of 2020, according to the federal indictment.

From Jan. 4 to Feb. 29, 2020, he attempted to rob three other banks and successfully knocked over one lender, the indictment states.

In his last successful heist, he swiped $3,000 from a bank on Third Avenue near 55th Street, according to the court papers.

Neilly was sprung from state jail in December 2019 because of New York’s bail reform law, The Post reported at the time. He had been free for less than a month before being arrested for robbing a Chase bank in Midtown.

Neilly was sentenced in 2014 to five to 10 years in prison for a string of heists he pulled off in 2012.

Twice bank surveillance video caught the felon wearing a $250 Burberry shirt while he handed robbery notes to tellers.

He was ordered detained by federal authorities after his arrest on Jan. 28, according to court records.

He’s scheduled to be arraigned on federal charges later this month.

Bandits nab $9K in cash from NYC bank after security guard blunder
By Craig McCarthy
March 19, 2021 | 3:43pm | Updated

This could be the easiest bank heist ever.

A pair of bandits made off with $9,000 in cold, hard cash from a Midtown bank — after a security guard left a whole bag of loot on top of an ATM, The Post has learned.

The effortless robbery unfolded just after 2:30 p.m. March 11 inside the Chase Bank at 390 Madison Ave., according to cops.

Police sources believe one of the thieves walked into the ATM area to withdraw money and noticed the sack of cash after tossing a few lottery tickets in the trash can.

The man then walked outside and told his pal what he saw, according to sources.

Surveillance footage released by the NYPD Friday shows the second man walk into the bank and grab the bag of dough from the top of the ATM.

Sources say it was left behind by one of the guards with Brink’s armored truck service during a pickup.

The company did not immediately respond for comment.

The robbers were still in the wind Friday.
