A 27-year-old Philadelphia man stopped at a gas station at about 7:30 p.m. Wednesday and left his 1-year-old child in the back of his minivan, which was still running, while the man ran into the convenient store.

Upon exiting the store, the man saw his van, with his son in the back seat, beaing driven out of the parking lot.

br>Police said that 14 minutes later, an officer spotted the minivan abandoned in the parking lot of an apart
ment building, about a half mile from the convenient store. The baby was not in the van.

A passerby found the child moments later, still strapped into his car seat, sitting on the sidewalk, only blocks away from the abandoned vehicle. The baby was unharmed.

The father and son, both of northeast Philadelphia, were immediately reunited.

Police said that no one has been formally charged for carjacking, but they did have a suspect they were questioning Wednesday evening.
