An NYPD officer has been indicted on attempted murder charges over the off-duty shooting of a man outside a Brooklyn club, prosecutors announced Monday.
Larry Valdemar, a 16-year veteran of the force, is accused of shooting the 32-year-old victim outside Chloe’s in Canarsie on April 18, according to the Brooklyn District Attorney’s Office.
The cop allegedly got miffed after the victim tried to intervene in his dispute with someone else.
Valdemar waited for the victim to come out of the club, walking with him until he reached the corner at around 12:45 a.m., prosecutors alleged.
He punched the man in the face, and when the victim tried to hit back, Valdemar allegedly took out his gun and pistol-whipped him on his upper back, the prosecutors said.
The cop then fired once, hitting the victim on his arm and grazing his back, authorities allege.
After the shooting, Valdemar allegedly fled — and then showed up for his 4 p.m. shift at the 104th Precinct in Queens, sources told The Post at the time.

He was placed on modified duty and taken off the street in the aftermath, the NYPD said.
Valdemar pleaded not guilty in Brooklyn Supreme Court on Monday to second-degree attempted murder, assault, reckless endangerment and related crimes.
Justice Eugene Guarino held Valdemar on $35,000 bail and ordered him back to court on July 13.

“After a review of all the evidence in this case, a Grand Jury returned an indictment charging this defendant with attempted murder and other charges,” DA Eric Gonzalez said in a statement. “The fact that this defendant is a police officer makes his alleged actions all the more shocking. We will now seek to hold him accountable for his actions.”
Valdemar faces up to 25 years in prison if convicted on the top count.
