Police Seek Suspects In Attack In New Orleans East
NEW ORLEANS -- New Orleans police have issued arrest warrants for two suspects wanted in connection with the Friday attempted murder of a 21-year-old local man.
Jason Francis and Jerome Haywood, both 20, face charges along with two other men who have not been identified.
The attack occurred at about 11:00 p.m. in the 5900 block of Almonaster Avenue.
According to inv
stigators, the victim and four of his acquaintances drove to an abandoned building in the 5900 block of Almonaster Avenue. Once inside, the four individuals physically attacked the victim with a pipe and
tied his arms and legs together with tape. They also put tape across his mouth. One suspect, identified
as Francis, then cut the victim's wrists and throat with a sharp object.
The four acquaintances then fled in an older-model red van, police said.
The victim was able to free himself and summoned help from a nearby business. He was taken to the Medical Center of Louisiana, where he is listed in guarded condition.
Seventh District Detective is handling the investigation. He is in the process of determining the identity of the other two suspects.
Crimestoppers, at (504) 822-1111, is offering up to a $1,000 reward for information leading to arrests and indictments. Callers do not have to leave their names or testify in court.
