PITTSBURGH —
Investigators said Steelers practice squad offensive lineman Jarron Jones, 26, is accused of assaulting his girlfriend on Saturday.
According to a criminal complaint, investigators found Jones' girlfriend crying, with bruises and abrasions on her body.
She told them Jones smashed his Xbox console over her face,
picked her up and threw her outside. At one point she said he strangled her and she blacked out.
Jones' version of events was different. He told police she returned to their apartment after he arrived there first from their night out, and she began smashing objects in their home and yelling at Jones. He said he picked her up by her back and legs and "placed her outside."
Jones was handcuffed and double locked when he was talking to police. The criminal complaint said that was because of what his girlfriend told them.
A witness was the one who called investigators after they heard "loud banging and the sound of bodies upstairs."
Jones' girlfriend was taken to the hospital, and Jones was arrested and charged with aggravated assault, strangulation and simple assault.
