Customers hold down robbery suspect until police arrive

CHARLOTTE, NC (WBTV) - Officers with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department didn't break a sweat in getting an armed robbery suspect into custody Tuesday morning.

According to a police spokesman, the suspect went into Circle K on Idlewild Road near East W.T. Harris Boulevard and pushed the clerk out of the way in an attempt to get cash from the register.

The suspect was unable to get into the cash register, and took a purse from underneath the counter.

Two customers noticed the robbery attempt and held him down until officers arrived on s
cene.

The name of the suspect has not been released by detectives.
