By:SUSAN ROBERTSON, Staff Writer 12/29/2005
PRINCE GEORGE - Police are searching for the man wanted in connection with an armed robbery and rape that occurred Tuesday night in the Pine Ridge mobile home park off Prince George Drive.
The incident occurred at approximately 10:15 p.m. in the 100 block of Blue Jay Street. "The victim was home with her 10-year-old daughter and her four- and five-year-old children," said Sgt. Brian Kei, spokesman for Prince George County police. The four- and five-year-old children were asleep in a bedroom and the 29-year-old victim and her 10-year-old daughter were in the master bedroom watching television when the subject gained entry through an unlocked door.
"Once the suspect entered the trailer, he displayed a knife and demanded money from the victim," said Kei. "Then he order
ed the 10-year-old into the bedroom closet." He took
$100 from the victim, then ordered [her] to go into the master bathroom where he raped her. He made threats to the victim, saying 'You better not scream, or I'll hurt you and your children.'" "Evidently there was a vehicle that came by the trailer and spooked the suspect, and he fled on foot," said Kei.
The victim was taken to the Virginia Commonwealth University Medical Center in Richmond for examination.
"We had a canine come out to do a track, but it was unsuccessful," said Kei.
The suspect is described as a light-skinned African-American male, 6 feet tall with a slim build and weighing approximately 175 pounds. At the time of the crime, he was wearing a baggy black jacket, baggy black pants, dark-colored shoes and a red ski mask with a dark-colored stripe.
"Physical evidence was recovered at the scene and has been submitted to the lab for examination, hopefully to determ
ine
who
this was," said Kei.
Police currently have no suspects in the case. However, a report filed on F
riday sited a suspect with a similar description.
"A citizen that lives in the same trailer park reported that a light-skinned black male with a similar description had walked into her home unannounced and asked to use the phone," said Kei.
Once he is arrested, the suspect could face charges of breaking and entering, rape, and two counts of abduction.
Anyone with information on either of these crimes is encouraged to call police headquarters at 733-2770 or Prince George Crime Solvers at 733-2777.
