VINELAND, N.J. (CBS) — Authorities in Cumberland County have identified a 10-year-old girl who was shot and killed during a Fourth of July drive-by shooting. The Cumberland County Prosecutor’s Office on Tuesday identified the victim as Jasayde Holder.

Eyewitness News spoke to Jasayde’s mom on Tuesday. She did not want to go on camera, but she was still visibly grieving for her daughter, a rising fifth grader who was caught in the wrong place at the wrong time.

Tuesday afternoon, Jasayde’s family, including her mother, tied balloons and set candles outside the home on the 700 block of West Earl Drive where the 10-year-old was shot Sunday night.

The Vineland Police Department was called to a local hospital around 11:17 p.m. Sunday for a report of a child who had been shot and died from her injuries.

“I think it was around 11, 11:15, and all I heard was just fireworks and then I heard sounds that did not sound like fireworks. It just sounded like three shots, so I knew it was gunshots,” a neighbor said.

Officials describe the incident as a drive-by shooting. Neighbors and friends of the family tell Eyewitness News the little girl was at a Fourth of July gathering at her grandmother’s house. It’s not clear who the intended target may have been.

“Very nice, quiet, easy-going person, don’t get in trouble,” a neighbor said. “It’s not really how the person is, it’s other people that can be connected.”

Jasayde, described by her family as creative, a young girl who loved music and riding her bike, was heading into fifth grade at Dane Barse Elementary School.

In a statement, school officials said they’re “deeply saddened” and “she will be missed greatly,” adding they will be providing counseling services for students and staff in the days ahead.

“If people are retaliating or people are trying to get back at other people, think before you act because there are other lives and other innocent people who get involved,” one neighbor said.

At this hour, officials are asking for the public’s help to identify Jasayde’s killer and a motive.

Authorities are asking the public to come forward with any information by calling 609-579-1431 or by submitting information at CCPO.TIPS.

Family of slain Vineland girl asks for donations to anti-violence groups

The family of the 10-year-old Vineland girl who was fatally shot Sunday is hoping her memory will spark donations to organizations working to prevent gun violence.
Jasayde Aide-Lee Holder died July 4, after she was rushed to Inspira Hospital in Vineland following an apparent drive-by shooting at her home.
No arrests have been announced in the killing. Detectives were working to find out who was the intended target.
Jasayde was remembered as a creative girl who created her own animations and short stories.
She “warmed the hearts of those she loved with her pure soul and smile,” according to her obituary. “She always maintained her own style and was truly a unique young girl.”
Jasayde’s funeral is set for 4:30 p.m. Saturday at the DeMarco-Luisi Funeral Home, 2755 S. Lincoln Ave. in Vineland.
Those attending are asked to wear green, her favorite color.
A visitation will begin at 3 p.m.
Jasayde’s creativity resulted in everything from animations and short stories to gourmet foods using “nature’s bounty” from her grandma’s garden.
She enjoyed riding her bike, sitting on the swing her grandpa built and being the “big cousin” in her family.
She is survived by her mother, Tashia Evans, and stepfather, Thomas Russell Jr., of Vineland, and her father, Ronald Holder, and stepmother, Emily Hardy, of West Virginia. She also leaves behind four siblings, grandparents and an extended family that includes aunts, uncles and cousins.

Those wishing to contribute to an anti-gun violence cause in her memory can go to Parents of Murdered Children, New Jersey Gun Violence Research Center at Rutgers or Brady United.

DRUG DEALERS, Gangbanger Drug deal gone bad.
Harris is the tattooed swamp creature on the Left.

The family wants sympathy and more gun control via Brady, despite having a druggie gang banger living inside their home. Their silence on the problem of black gangs is deafening.

During an earlier hearing, the prosecution said it believed someone living in the home where the girl was killed had a prior altercation with Harris and that this may have been the motive for the shooting.
Police executed a search warrant at a home on Pine Street in Millville on July 14, where they arrested Harris and seized various pills.
Drugs seized included 222 MDMA pills, 280 oxycodone pills and around 50 Alprazolam pills, according to court documents.

Harris allegedly tried to run from police while handcuffed, but was quickly apprehended, according to prosecutors. In addition to his other charges, he was charged with drug offenses and issued a summons for resisting arrest.
Chiarello cited Harris’ past record, which includes firearm and disorderly persons convictions, and the charges in the current case in deciding to keep him jailed until trial.
“The number of charges in this case and severity are quite alarming to the court,” the judge said.

Witt and Bogan have already been ordered detained pending trial. All three remain in Cumberland County Jail.
