KGO
PLEASANTON, Calif. -- An Oakland man has been sentenced to 12 years in state prison for his role in a home invasion robbery last year at the Pleasanton residence of a man who had won money while gambling at a casino, police said Tuesday.

Jakari Amani Bolden
pleaded no contest earlier this year to robbery and using a firearm during the commission of a felony for the robbery on Roselma Place at about 12:35 p.m. on Aug. 26, 2013, Pleasanton police said. He was sentenced in Alameda County Superior Court on Dec. 3.

Three other suspects also have pleaded no contest to robbery and will be sentenced at a later date, police said.

Authorities identified the other 3 men as Terrell Bailey, 26, of Oakland, Thomas Stokes, 31, of Hercules and 22-year-old Myrick Rucker, of Antioch.

Pleasanton police said a man who lives at the home on Roselma Place had spent the previous night gambling at Casino 580 in Livermore and won a large amount of money.

The man took a cab home and fell asleep in a downstairs bedroom, leaving the cash beside him in a bag, according to police.

An investigation revealed that Bailey and Stokes were at Casino 580 when the man was gambling and watched the victim throughout the night as he won the money and followed him home at about 6:30 a.m. on Aug. 26, 2013. Bailey and Stokes then called Bolden, who picked up Rucker and met up with Bailey and Stokes, according to police.

The robbery occurred about six hours after the man returned home. His wife came home and was about to close the garage door when three men armed with guns approached her, police said.

The suspects allegedly forced the woman into the house and confronted her and her husband. The men demanded "the money" and the husband complied out of fear for his and his wife's safety, according to police.

The men fled and police weren't able to locate them immediately after the robbery.

However, police found a cellphone that Bolden had dropped inside the victims' home, police said.

Working with the California Department of Justice's Bureau of Gambling Control, police were able to identify and locate Bolden, Bailey and Stokes and obtained search and arrest warrants for them. On Oct. 24, 2013, SWAT teams assisted in the arrests of the three men at their homes in Oakland and Hercules.

Authorities were able to find Rucker and arrest him at his home in Antioch on Nov. 6, 2013, police said.

On December 3, 2014 Jakari Amani Bolden (25 years old from Oakland, CA) was sentenced to 12 years
state prison for his involvement in a home invasion robbery that occurred in Pleasanton, CA on August
26, 2013. Bolden pled to a charge of 211 of the California Penal Code – Robbery; and a charge of
12022.5 of the California Penal Code – use of firearm in the commission of a felony.

Three other suspects were arrested in 2013 for their involvement for this crime. Terrell Antoine Bailey
(26 years old from Oakland, CA), Thomas Stokes (31 years old from Hercules, CA), and Myrick Leslie
Rucker
(22 years old from Antioch, CA) each pled to a charge of 211 of the California Penal Code –
Robbery.

On Monday, August 26, 2013 at approximately 12:37 PM the Pleasanton Police Department received a
911 call from a resident on Roselma Place, just off upper Bernal Avenue, reporting that she and her
husband had been robbed at gunpoint five minutes earlier.

The victim advised that she had just arrived home, exited her vehicle and was attempting to close the
garage door when she was confronted by three men armed with guns.
The suspects forced her into the
house, where they confronted her husband as well, and demanded “the money.” The husband complied
and gave them cash out of fear for his and his wife’s safety.

The husband had spent the previous night gambling at Casino 580 in Livermore. After winning an
undisclosed amount of money, he took a cab home and fell asleep in a downstairs bedroom, leaving the
cash beside him in a bag. The robbery occurred several hours later.

Investigators from the Pleasanton Police Department and California Department of Justice Bureau of
Gambling Control conducted an extensive follow up investigation. The investigation revealed that
Bailey and Stokes were at Casino 580 during the time the victim was gambling. They watched the
victim throughout the night as he won a large amount of money and followed him home at around 6:30
AM. Bolden was called during this time and met up with Bailey and Stokes.

The home invasion robbery occurred approximately six hours later. During the robbery one of the
suspects dropped his cellular smart phone inside the victim’s home.
The phone was located during the
initial investigation. It was determined to belong to Jakari Bolden. The investigation revealed Bolden
had returned to Pleasanton with Rucker and one other subject and committed the robbery.

On October 24, 2013, multiple bay area agencies assisted the Pleasanton Police Department in the
service of search and arrest warrants in Oakland and Hercules, at the homes of Bolden, Bailey, and
Stokes. All three suspects were taken into custody at that time. On November 6, 2013, Rucker was
arrested at his home in Antioch.
