SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO) — Following hundreds of hours of investigation, Sioux Falls Police have arrested several suspects in a homicide case.

Three teenagers are in the Minnehaha County Jail, accused of a murder nearly four months ago.







Lt. Nick Butler with the Crimes Against Persons section outlined how law enforcement was able to track down the suspects during police briefing Monday morning.

Police started the investigation on August 19, when Paul Billion’s body was found in his apartment. But authorities now say the crime took place days earlier, on August 16.

Butler said this crime appears to have started as a drug-related robbery that escalated. An autopsy determined Billion’s manner of death was homicide by gunshot.

According to an affidavit, authorities turned to video from surveillance cameras, along with Snap Chat and Instagram, to identify the suspects.

Butler said officers executed search warrants on Saturday and arrested four individuals.

Gbo Wesfort Yuoh is charged with first-degree murder, burglary and grand theft. Thomas Tarley and Soteemon Poley are facing first-degree murder and burglary charges.

Court documents reveal the gun used to kill Billion appears to have been stolen from a vehicle earlier in the year. A fourth person, Carnell Jimmerson, faces charges related to that crime.

Butler and Police Chief Jon Thum both thanked the public for their assistance in the case. They remind people that if they see something suspicious, reach out to police to share that as all tips can benefit their case.


They also appealed to the public to share anything they might know about another unsolved homicide in Sioux Falls.

Thum says an active community is a safe community; he asked that people be active about providing information to police.

Nighttime burglary, murdered Paul Billion by gunshot, in his apartment 2200-2300 evening on the 16th or early on the 17th.

According to an affidavit, authorities turned to video from surveillance cameras, along with Snap Chat and Instagram, to identify the suspects.There were numerous social media posts/videos uploaded by these black clowns, in the typical posing with guns, rapping about how proud they are of their kill.

Paul Billion's father did a wellness check and found his son's body on kitchen floor in a sitting position with a shovel under his legs on the 19th of August. The shovel was likely used to smash the victim's face before he was shot.

Detective at the scene, Paul shot 3 times in torso and face was beaten.

Your Affiant (detective) reviewed the media included in the Snapchat search warrant return for the defendant.
Your Affiant located videos taken on 08/30/2022 in the video Your Affiant can see the defendant holding a Glock pistol.
On 09/05/2022 in the video Your Affiant can see the defendant rapping while driving a car waving around a Glock pistol.
On 09/17/2022 Your Affiant can hear the defendant in the background of a video he is taking yelling to someone he is with to
"hey yo shot his ass if you got your blick bro”.
On 09/18/2022 the defendant is taking a video where he is rapping and stated “they know we them shooters”.
On 10/01/2022 the defendant is standing in a picture and the magazine for a handgun
can be seen sticking out the front of his pants.

3 men sentenced for Paul Billion homicide in Sioux Falls​

Three Sioux Falls men were sentenced this week to significant prison time in the South Dakota State Penitentiary for the robbery and homicide of 36-year-old Paul Billion on Aug. 17, 2022.

All three accepted plea deals during the last year and pleaded guilty to manslaughter in the first degree, according to Minnehaha court documents.

The three individuals tied to Billion’s death were sentenced Wednesday:

• Gbo Wesfort Yuoh, 21, of Sioux Falls, received a 75-year sentence
• Thomas Tarley, 21, of Sioux Falls, received a 65-year sentence
• Sooteman Poley, 20, of Sioux Falls, received a 50-year sentence

The fourth man arrested in relation to this case, Carnell Lavar Jimmerson Jr., 21, of Sioux Falls, was charged with grand theft related to stolen guns but later had a change of plea in July 2023 to firearms with a value of less than or equal to $2,500. His sentence hearing is at 9 a.m. June 14.

All three men sentenced were in their late teens at the time of the crime.

On Aug. 16, 2022, just before midnight, Billion had been overheard inviting random people he just met at a Shell gas station over to his residence.

Billion was found Aug. 19, 2022, dead inside a home in the 1300 block of South Duluth Avenue. The victim had three projectiles recovered from his body. Police determined all three shots were fired from the same gun, which was reported stolen by a man in Florida. A fourth shot didn't hit Billion, according to court documents.

Police used surveillance footage and city cameras to identify the suspects, according to court documents.

The Minnehaha County Coroner performed an autopsy and determined the manner of death was homicide by gunshot, according to previous Argus Leader reporting. He had been dead for a few days.

Police also used photos and videos posted to social media, namely Snapchat and Instagram, along with geolocations from the suspects' phones to match their whereabouts during Billion’s death and also prove they possessed certain firearms including the one used to kill Billion, according to court documents.

Paul's doorbell was smashed off the wall,
the porch lightbulb was removed & sitting on the chair. The shovel they used to bash victims face with, detectives said the shovel was kept outside.
The document states BURGLARY. CCTV caught them walking to the home, then running away after smashing doorbell & removing the lightbulb, and the 3 were seen crouching down and staring at the victim's home, ten they ran back to the home.
NO ONE SKULKS AROUND AND BREAKS INTO A HOME IF THEY WERE INVITED.

If anything, the coons were working on inviting themselves to Paul's apartment, the store employees were very likely mistaken.
I've had experience with loitering blacks outside gas station convenience stores.
