AN American woman in her 60s was knifed to death and five others injured during a bloodbath attack carried out by a Norwegian-Somali man in central London last night.

Witnesses described victims “screaming and covered in blood” following the rampage in which the woman was brutally knifed by a man around 10.30pm.

Police sources confirmed the attacker hailed from Norway and is of Somali descent – and added that he has shown no signs of radicalisation.

Other terrified onlookers described the crazed knifeman chasing pedestrians and “lunging for anyone he could see” as police confirmed mental health was a likely factor.

A 19-year-old man was arrested at the scene after being tasered by police in Russell Square as officers yelled: “Put it down.”

It comes as dramatic footage emerges of the suspect being arrested by police last night.

Witnesses reported the dying woman’s final words were: “He’s still here, he’s still here.”

A Tallahassee woman, who is the wife of a Florida State University professor teaching abroad, was killed in a London knife rampage Wednesday evening.

The brutal attack in the London tourist hub of Russell Square left Darlene Horton, the wife of FSU psychology professor Richard Wagner, dead the day the university's summer study abroad program ended.

Neither London Police nor university officials have yet to confirm Horton was the one killed in the attack.

A Norwegian teenager of Somali origin has been arrested in connection with the crime.

Wagner was teaching in the summer study abroad program. Students had already returned to the U.S., but he and Horton remained, university officials said. The couple was expected to return to Florida today.

Russell Square attack: London student Zakaria Bulhan named as suspect in stabbing

The man suspected of the murder of an American woman in a knife attack in central London has been named locally as Zakaria Bulhan.

The 19-year-old, whose home in Tooting was raided by police after his arrest, is a 19-year-old Norwegian of Somali descent. He moved to the UK at the age of five.

Former classmates, speaking to the Standard, said Bulhan was a ‘teacher’s pet’ who was occasionally bullied. A profile on a book rating website in Bulhan’s name showed that he was interested in Islamic theology.

He had recently read a biography of the Prophet Mohamed and book of Quran verses and hadiths.

Neighbours speaking to the Daily Mail said Bulhan’s family were Muslim, and that his mother was ‘kind and friendly’.

Daughter of Russell Square knife rampage victim Darlene Horton demands killer is locked up indefinitely

The daughter of a US teacher stabbed to death during a mentally ill teenager’s rampage through Russell Square today called for her killer to be locked up indefinitely.

Darlene Horton, 64, was knifed in the back by 19-year-old Zakaria Bulhan as he roamed through central London armed with a kitchen knife while in the grip of a psychotic episode.

She suffered wounds to her lung and heart and died in the street, on August 3 last year, just a day before she and her husband were due to return home to Tallahassee in Florida.

Today at the Old Bailey, Bulhan pleaded guilty to manslaughter by diminished responsibility and charges of wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm of five other victims.

Shannon Wagner, the daughter of Ms Horton, said the attack has left her fearful of going out in big cities, and rendered their tight-knit family heartbroken.
