Mother Charged When Son, Left In Car, Dies

ASHEVILLE, N.C -- An Asheville woman is charged in the death of her 8-year-old son.
The Jackson County Sheriff's Office and Asheville police arrested Michelle Gibson Sunday after her son Devon was found dead in her car.
Capt. Steve Lillard said investigators believe Gibson, 36, left Devon Gibson in the trunk of the car while she went to work at the Mountain Trace Nursing Home in Sylva.
After getting off work Sunday, Lillard said Gibson told a co-worker what happened, but then drove to her apartment in Asheville, where she was arrested.
A cause of death for the boy has not b
een determined, but heat is believed to be a factor in his death.
Gibson is charged with voluntary manslaughter, seco
nd degree murder and two counts of child abuse.
Her bond has been set at $100,000.
