Man attacks 7 year-old girl near her home

A Northside mother is searching for the man she believes brutally beat her seven year old daughter in their own backyard.
The victim's family says the girl was on her way to a neighbor's apartment to buy candy when she was approached by the suspect. The girl says he asked her to buy him a piece of candy, and when she refused he attacked her.
According to family members, the suspect dragged the victim into the woods, put a bag over her head and beat her. Sources say the assailant even stomped her head, causing brutal bruises and fractured bones.
The victim is now recovering at Shands Hospital where doctors say she is expected to be ok. Family members say she will have surgery for broken bones in her face this morning.

Police say the suspect is a black male, standing around 5' 4", and weighing 140 pounds. They believe he has a short afro hair-cut, and was wearing a red shirt and black shoes.
