Stolen semi-truck causes I-10 closure near 24th Street, woman in custody​

PHOENIX — A woman was taken into custody on the I-10 near 24th Street Thursday afternoon in connection to a stolen semi-truck in Phoenix.

Just before 4 p.m., Phoenix police were called to a report of a semi-truck stolen from a business near 27th Avenue and Thomas Road.

Authorities located the semi-truck on the I-10 near 16th Street and DPS officials assisted in stopping the semi-truck.

For a period of time, the woman driving the semi-truck refused to exit the vehicle and authorities used pepper balls, according to Phoenix police.

Police were then able to bring the woman into custody. The woman has been identified as 41-year-old Florence Penn.

Penn was booked into jail on a charge of unlawful use of means of transportation.
