A Brooklyn man-turned-ISIS recruiter and Twitter propagandist has been extradited back to the U.S. to face his fate, authorities said Wednesday.

Mirsad Kandic, a U.S. resident , was nabbed in Bosnia in June after living as an ISIS insurgent for nearly three years, according to newly unsealed court documents.

Kandic managed to circumvent the no-fly list back in Dec. 2013, eight years after he “expressed his desire to travel to Pakistan, Afghanistan and locations in the Middle East to engage in jihad against U.S. military forces and to seek his own martyrdom,” the court papers read.

He snuck into Turkey, and began working as a senior member of the terrorist organization’s “media department”–operating some 100 Twitter accounts from which he circulated propaganda and looked for new recruits.

Kandic commonly used the account to respond to ISIS-linked attacks around the world.

“Hours after the November 2015 shootings and suicide bombings in Paris, France, the defendant posted a Twitter message stating: “America in fear.! The NYPD have said they will have more officers on the streets in response to the terrorist attacks in Paris this evening,” a government memo reads.

On December 27, 2015, the defendant used one of his Twitter accounts to promote the May 2015 shooting in Garland, Texas, at an exhibition featuring cartoons of the Prophet Mohammed, posting: “City of #garland in Texas, USA, where they insulted the Prophet of Islam last year. May they perish and suffer more” another posting read.

Kandic also worked as an ISIS recruiter and travel facilitator, primarily helping non-Syrian or Iraqi individuals, known as “foreign fighters,” to travel to the Middle East to join ISIS, according to the papers.

One of his recruits, Australian Jake Bilardi, carried out a suicide truck bombing in Ramadi, Iraq, in March 2015, authorities say.

In correspondence between the two prior to the attack, Kandic wrote “May Allah make there [sic] inner organs implode,” the documents say.

His arraignment is expected in Brooklyn federal court later Wednesday, just a day after a lone-wolf terrorist attack claimed eight lives and injured 11 others in lower Manhattan.

Kandic, who stands charged with multiple counts of providing material support and resources to ISIS, faces up to life in prison if convicted.
