Carjacking suspect taken into custody
TOPEKA (KSNT) — On Saturday at 8:31 a.m., Topeka Police received a call about a carjacking that occurred in the 1100 block of SW Lane.
A white Chevrolet SUV was spotted at SE 29th Street and SE California Avenue where it speed away from officers.
KHP aircraft spotted the vehicle at SW 21st Street and SW Washburn Avenue. A KHP trooper tried to stop the vehicle, but the suspect initiated a chase.
The chase ended when the suspect wrecked the vehicle into a tree at SW Hampton Street and SW Buchanan Street.
Paul Jeffrey Gladney Jr., 26, was taken into custody without incident and booked into the Shawnee County Department of Corrections on various traffic charges, aggravated robbery and being a felon in possession of a firearm.
