Man arrested after attempting to rob two homes

East Windsor (WTNH) _ A brazen would-be thief was arrested Saturday night after he attempted to break into several homes and assaulted a homeowner in East Windsor.
Police say they received numerous 9-1-1 calls around 9 p.m. from residents saying that a man was attempting to break into houses near 93 Main Street. One caller stated that shots were fired at the suspect.
When police arrived on scene they learned that one resident, Alan Pellitier of 95A Main Street, shot at the suspect with a 12-gauge shotgun but did not hit him.
The suspect, Delroy Martin of Suffield, then went to a home next door to Pellitier and banged on the door with a garden tool several times. Another resident sprung into action and confronted Martin outside. Martin struck that resident with the garden tool several times and punched the resident in the face. Yet another neighbor also intervened and helped to subdue Martin until police arrived.
Martin faces several charges including carrying a dangerous weapon and criminal attempt to commit burglary.
