MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Pa. (CBS) -- A Pennridge South Middle School guidance counselor has been charged after allegedly having sexual contact with a 14-year-old student.

Kelly Schutte, 35, was arraigned Friday in a Montgomery County courtroom on charges of sexual contact with a student, corruption of minors and indecent assault on a person less than 16 years old, according to court documents.

Court documents allege Schutte performed a sexual act with the student inside her car between a Weis Supermarket in Pennsburg, close to her home in Montgomery County, on July 17, 2023.

Schutte is also accused of spending time with the student inside his bedroom in West Rockhill Township, Bucks County, in June 2023, court documents show. She allegedly laid on top of him and touched him. The student's parents and sister were out of town at the time, court documents say.

Investigators found electronic messages between Schutte and the victim and also found handwritten notes inside Schutte's office at Pennridge South Middle School.

Superintendent Angelo Berrios said the Pennridge School District became aware of the allegations in July 2023 and immediately placed Schutte on administrative leave. Berrios said Schutte cannot have any contact with any students or district staff, and cannot enter any district property.

"We must acknowledge the significance of maintaining the privacy of the student and their family involved in this matter," Berrios said in a statement. "While we refrain from making premature judgments about the actions of the staff member facing prosecution, it is crucial to reiterate the district's stance against any inappropriate contact between a Pennridge School District employee and a student. Such behavior will NOT be tolerated."

Berrios said the district is cooperating with the county's district attorney's office.

Schutte was released on $25,000 unsecured bail. She was ordered to have no contact with the victim and avoid all Pennridge School District property, Montgomery County District Attorney Kate Delano said.

A married Connecticut educator allegedly had sex with an 11-year-old boy in her car outside his school — after giving him a bracelet with the acronym for “Best Friends for Life With Benefits.”
Alyson Cranick, 42, turned herself into police Tuesday and was charged with two counts of first-degree sexual assault, three counts of risk of injury to a minor, and impairing the morals of children, WFSB reported.
The married mother of two was earlier fired as an administrative assistant at E.O. Smith High School in Mansfield after being accused of repeatedly having sex with the boy when he was just 11 and 12, according to the outlet.
Over two months, the boy “snuck out of his house on at least 14 occasions during the overnight hours to meet with Cranick,” according to an arrest warrant obtained by WFSB.
She either waited by “hiding behind a bush on a neighbor’s property or walking up to his house,” according to the document.

He and Cranick allegedly had sex in her car on multiple occasions and had also kissed at Horace Porter School in Columbia, according to court documents cited by NBC Connecticut.
She even made the boy a bracelet with the acronym “BFFLWB,” meaning “Best Friends for Life With Benefits,” the warrant said.
Police were made aware in September of a reported sex assault involving a minor that happened in the summer of 2022.
The boy told a relative that he’d earlier been communicating with the educator over iMessage and Snapchat before switching to Discord.

Cranick “emotionally manipulated [the boy] into spending more time with her,” but he eventually refused to meet her and did not want to have any further relations with her, according to the warrant.
The accused perv told investigators that she did not initiate sexual contact and “downplayed any inappropriate reasoning for communicating [with the boy],” the warrant states.
She also claimed she was trying to comfort him because he was scared about family matters, officials said.

Cranick was fired from the high school after the investigation was completed.
The Columbia school district informed the community about the disturbing allegations in a lengthy statement.
“Clearly, any allegation of inappropriate contact with minors is disturbing and causes concerns about the safety of the children in our school community,” the message by Superintendent Barbara Wilson reads.

“Columbia community members should be reassured that the safety of children is the district’s foremost concern. The Columbia Board of Education has adopted robust policies and procedures to promote the safety and well-being of all our children,” it states.
“My hope is that this horrific and appalling situation will not cast a shadow over the important work carried out by the Columbia School District’s teachers and staff members, who provide an outstanding education and safe environment for our students every day,” the statement adds.
A judge told Cranick’s parents that they have to pay 10% percent of the $500,000 bond to release her and take her back to Pennsylvania, where she’s originally from, WFSB reported.

A Louisiana teacher allegedly sent a 15-year-old boy nude photos, inappropriately touched him in her car with her young child present, and told the teen she was worried she wouldn’t be the one to take his virginity, according to authorities.

Tatum Hatch, 32, was arrested Wednesday after she and the teen exchanged indecent messages for about a year and a half in which she suggested he come through her bedroom window to have sex with her, court documents allege.

About a year ago, the pair met up near the victim’s home, where Hatch allegedly touched the boy’s genitals while her infant was in the car, court docs said, KTVE reported.

The educator also allegedly told the teen another time she was scare
d he’d find someone else to be his “first” after the boy told her he was scared, the station reported.

The alleged relationship blew up when the victim’s father found out and contacted the police.

The boy then showed investigators with the Ouachita Parish Sheriff’s Office messages on Instagram between him and the teacher, who resigned from her job in late December when the probe first started, KTVE reported.

The victim also claimed Hatch sent nude selfies, but the pics disappeared because she used vanish mode on Instagram.

A former Queens assistant principal allegedly had “sexual contact” with a student in a classroom setting at a high school where she taught nearly two decades ago, according to a newly revealed state probe conducted in 2007.
Jessica Bader worked at George J. Ryan Middle School 216 in Fresh Meadows for nine years before taking a job in East Norwich, L.I., eventually becoming a principal there last September.
She abruptly resigned the next month, prompting concern and questions from district parents.
On Friday, a News 12 Long Island investigation exposed the decade-old scandal behind her short stay as school boss.
Bader, 51, allegedly had a sexual relationship with an 18-year-old student at East Meadow High School in 2004 and 2005, according to the state’s investigation.
It included kissing and fondling “in a classroom setting,” the state probe found.

She was reassigned to an administrative role away from students and resigned shortly after in 2005.
Her teaching certification was suspended for four years in 2007. But in 2013, the NYC Department of Education hired her as an assistant principal in Queens District 26.
It’s unclear how Bader cleared her DOE background check.

In 2022, Bader applied to the Oyster Bay-East Norwich district.
The News 12 investigation found that she left her East Meadow misconduct out of her application and lied that her certification was never revoked.
After her mysterious resignation in October, North Shore parents demanded answers from the district.

The East Norwich district has not said whether they knew about the previous allegations before hiring her, according to reports.
During state hearings in 2007, Bader — who was not criminally charged because the student was not a minor — argued that the relationship was not inappropriate because it was consensual, the student was of legal age and not a student in any of her classes, according to the documents.

“It was a gross error in judgment to believe that it is appropriate for any teacher to kiss or fondle a student in a classroom setting, whether or not the student was in a classroom taught by that teacher or even if that student has technically reached the age of majority,” state hearing officer Patricia Rodriguez wrote.

Bader testified that she had a lapse in judgment and that she was “under stress due to the birth of twins and the demands of her personal and professional life.”

Bader did not return a call for comment.

NJ teacher who had illicit sexual relationship with student avoids prison time after ex-pupils sent court letters of support

A New Jersey teacher who had a sexual relationship with a 17-year-old female student evaded prison time last week after her former students sent letters of support to the court ahead of her sentencing.
Ex-Fair Lawn High School graphics arts teacher Christine Knudsen was placed under lifetime parole supervision and forced to register as a sex offender, but won’t see a day behind bars if she doesn’t violate the terms of the sentencing, according to the Bergen Record.
She’s also reportedly prohibited from having any contact with her victim as part of a three-year suspended sentence tied to her illicit sexual relationship with the teenage student that lasted nearly a year in 2017.
The relationship was technically legal because the victim was the age of consent, but for the sentencing, the student was considered a child, the local newspaper reported.
“Parents send their kids to school every day, trusting they will be safe in the care of their teachers,” Bergen County Judge Nina Remson said Wednesday, according to the outlet. “And there is a very strong need to deter not only Ms. Knudsen, but all citizens from violations of the law, especially in this nature involving a breach of trust between the teacher and the student.”

Knudsen pleaded guilty in July to reckless endangerment after she was initially charged with sexual assault in 2021. She met the victim when the student joined the school’s drama club, which she advised, the Record reported.

The former educator’s lawyer in court last week blamed multiple troubles in her life, including substance abuse, for the inappropriate relationship.

“I think it’s fair to say from her comments that if she could go back in time, … she would love to do so,” attorney Michael DeMarco said, per the Record.

“And unfortunately, we know that you cannot do that. And she’s here today for something that she knew was wrong and wanted to stop, but couldn’t.”

Knudsen, who taught for two decades, had a positive influence on her classes, according to letters of support from ex-students, Assistant Prosecutor Stephen Bollenbach said, though he pointed out the relationship with the victim violated the trust between educator and pupil.

He described the plea deal as “justice tempered with mercy.”

“So while this is certainly not a victimless crime — it’s far from it — I hope that Ms. Knudsen is forever deterred,” Bollenbach said, according to the Record. “I think that is in the best interest of the community as a whole and certainly to the students.”

NYC teacher, former prodigy took student into bathroom — before handing him wad of cash: probe

A former prodigy at the prestigious Bronx High School of Science who went on to become a city chemistry teacher resigned last year after she “engaged in an inappropriate relationship” with a male student in the Manhattan high school where she taught, an investigation found.

Shoshana Leffler, 37, was once a star student at the Bronx High School, where she and her twin brother Abba were both among 300 semifinalists in the nationwide Intel Science Talent Search.

She attended Princeton and NYU, then landed a teaching job in 2019 with the city Department of Education.

But in February 2023, Leffler, then 36, was caught on video taking a 17-year-old male student into a locked bathroom at the High School for Health Careers and Sciences in Manhattan’s Fort George — then later handing the teen a wad of cash.

“What occurred in the bathroom can only be speculated about since Leffler resigned from the DOE without providing an explanation,” Anastasia Coleman, the Special Commissioner of Investigation for city schools, said in a report obtained by The Post.

A surveillance camera in the school’s stairwell first picked up Leffler and the unnamed student “engaging in conversation” at 10:35 am on a Tuesday morning — one minute into the fourth period, when the teen “should have been in class,” the SCI report says.

An assistant principal spotted the two and rebuked Leffler for the improper tete-a-tete.

But instead of ending the encounter, she took the boy to the building’s fifth floor, the report states.

There, they “sought out a private room where security cameras could not record them,” investigators concluded — a staff bathroom with a lockable door.

Their seven-minute lavatory rendezvous ended when another faculty member arrived to use the facilities and found the bathroom locked from the inside.

Once the interrupting staffer departed, Leffler and the teen were filmed leaving separately.

The next day, Leffler met up with the student in the stairwell again, where she was recorded “handing [him] what appeared to be money, him pocketing this money, and them leaving the stairwell together,” the report says.

Investigators found no evidence of contact between Leffler and the boy in the teacher’s phone records.

The student would not testify about the incident.

Leffler quit while the probe was ongoing, and later refused to be questioned, leaving the nature of their relationship a mystery.

A “problem code” was attached to Leffler’s DOE file, which could bar her from future employment with the city.

The SCI forwarded its report to the New York State Department of Education for possible action, but she remains licensed to teach in New York, records show.

Shoshana earned a Ph.D. in medical science from NYU with a dissertation on brain-cell development.

Abba is now a top pharma researcher with a string of patents and peer-reviewed papers to his credit — and both twins still live with their parents in the northern Bronx, according to public records.

“These are the students who, God willing, will find cures for diseases and will be our political leaders,” then-Bronx Science Principal Valerie Reidy told The Post in 2005.

Neither Leffler nor her attorney responded to requests for comment.
