Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg says that posts and pages attempting to organize protests against stay-at-home orders will be banned as “misinformation.”

The Facebook CEO confirmed that the posts would be banned to ABC’s George Stephanopoulos on a segment of Good Morning America.

Stephanopoulos asked Zuckerberg how the company deals “with the fact that Facebook is now being used to organize a lot of these protests to defy social distancing guidelines in states. If somebody trying to organize something like that, does that qualify as harmful misinformation?”

“We do classify that as harmful misinformation and we take that down,” confirmed Zuckerberg, while at the same time saying that it’s important “that people can debate policies.”

A Facebook spokesman confirmed to CNN that planned protests in California, New Jersey, and Nebraska were having their pages removed from Facebook at the request of state authorities.

Anti-quarantine protests being organized through Facebook in California, New Jersey, and Nebraska, are being removed from the platform on the instruction of governments in those three states because it violates stay-at-home orders, Facebook spokesperson @andymstone tells @donie.

This comes after President Trump gave his support to protesters in several states who are demonstrating against their governors’ stay-at-home orders, including a 3,000-strong protest in Lansing, Michigan. Michigan protesters have used Facebook to organize.

On Twitter, the President called on protesters to “liberate” the states of Michigan, Minnesota, and Virginia, also calling on Virginian citizens to “save your great 2nd amendment. It is under siege!”

At Friday’s White House coronavirus press conference, Trump lent more support to the protesters.

“These are people expressing their views,” said the president. “They seem to be very responsible people to me, but they’ve been treated a little bit rough.”

Protests and demonstrations, like other forms of lawful speech, are constitutionally protected. The First Amendment of the United States, in addition to protecting freedom of expression and religion, also specifically protects “the right of the people peaceably to assemble.”

The Fact-Check Racket Finally Unravels​

Before the COVID lockdowns, social media companies had started contracting with new third-parties organizations called fact-checkers to assist in “content creation.” Getting a pass meant the post or story was amplified but getting dinged for inaccuracy meant that the post would be throttled or deleted.

For a while we believed it but certain revelations changed that. We came to realize that the posts labeled false were typically contrary to regime narratives. And a close look at the supposed refutation revealed that many points were very much in dispute. The companies developed a talent for seeming to reveal something false that was actually still debatable and interesting to consider. In most cases, what was declared false was still under consideration.
As time went on, the attempts to censor became more brazen and obvious. Then the Twitter files and other FOIAs generated proof of what many suspected all along. These entities were funded either directly or indirectly by government or by other dark-money sources as quid pro quos for other relationships they had cultivated with interested parties.
In other words, they were not some independent, science-based entities at all but rather hit squads with a hard political agenda. What was actually happening here was a form of censorship laundering. Government wants to censor but cannot so it turns to the social-media company to do the dirty work. To make this hand-in-glove racket less obvious, the companies would outsource to a fact-checking organization, making the lines of control even more blurry.
Sometime within the last several months, the whole racket seems to have unraveled. I rarely see the fact-checks cited at all. Or maybe they are cited ironically: what is declared false came to be seen as a badge of honor, a confirmation of core truth. That might seem crazy but these are the times in which we live. Nothing is as it seems.
At any one time, Brownstone and The Epoch Times deal with a range of ongoing fact-checks, some of which result in a hit piece but others just go away for no apparent reason. I’m coming to realize that the harassing emails themselves serve a purpose. They are designed to scare publishers and chill free speech. Risk-averse managers might be inclined not to run with a story rather than be put through the ringer and deal with possible reputation hits.
It’s all become ridiculously predictable.
Three days ago, a data maven who writes for Brownstone revealed a first look at some numbers he had been crunching over the CDC’s listing of COVID as cause of death. He initially sent the results to a private email list and I suggested we go with what he had discovered as an initial look.
He had death certificates from Missouri and Massachusetts and was able to cross-check them with the same once they got into the hands of the CDC. He found thousands of instances in which COVID was not listed as cause of death in the coroner’s report but it was added directly by the CDC. The scale of the problem is vast. The implications of this are rather ominous. We’ve been relying on CDC data for three-plus years to understand the scope of COVID’s mortality.
“The worst pandemic in 100 years,” they kept saying, and that might be true. But obviously the claim is highly contingent on correctly marking the cause-of-death codes. What Aaron Hertzberg found is that the CDC was changing the code to inflate the numbers. By how much it is hard to say but based on the data so far, this is a very serious problem with awesome implications for how we understand what happened to us.
The immediate question concerns the decision-making at the CDC. We know that Deborah Birx, coronavirus task force coordinator, said from the podium that they would mark every death with COVID as being from COVID. That was in the spring of 2020 and had already set off alarm bells. Changing the cause of death to COVID from something else is next-level crazy.
Under whose authority did the CDC act? Birx was not in charge of the CDC. Indeed, her power and status was always unclear. No question that she came to the White House by recommendation of Matthew Pottinger of the National Security Council. Also we know for certain that from March 13, 2020, onward, the NSC was the lead agency with the CDC reduced to operations. If the CDC had faced some formal order to mark COVID as cause of death regardless of what state certificates said, no one has ever seen such an order.
The implications of all of this are rather ominous. And keep in mind that this discovery was not made by a whistleblower or a specialist in this field but an obsessive data maven from the citizen world who has a passion to get to the truth. If he is right, the documentation here implies a level of treachery that even I had not considered.
I saw two reactions to the article once published.
The most common reaction was that this is nothing new. Everyone knew this was happening the whole time. We saw the death numbers go up and up from COVID and equally down for every other cause. It was pretty clear that there was something fishy going on. So some people said that there is nothing surprising here. The CDC is capable of any degree of malfeasance.
The other reaction was flat-out denial and accusing Brownstone and the author of simply making things up. Indeed, many people were outraged that we could or would ever suggest that the CDC was anything other than truth-telling.
Watching all of this unfold, I began awaiting the arrival of the inevitable intimidating emails from fact-check organizations. Sure enough, they did arrive. They came to the author, to other scholars, to me personally, and everyone else. It was a true blitzkrieg. Maybe there was a time when I would have stopped my day and become defensive and answered them all, getting more data from the author and so on, and then worrying about the fallout. But this is not my first rodeo. At this point, it was easy to brush off all this drama as completely manufactured and fake. That’s exactly what I did.
To be sure, if the author made mistakes, they should be corrected. I’m sure the author would be the first to do so. This kind of research is lonely and he would welcome others to join in his efforts. That’s how science works: a community shares data and strives to get closer to the truth. But that’s not what fact-checks are about. They start with the presumption that they know the truth and you do not, and then schoolmarm you to the point that you admit them to be correct.
Here’s what I’ve concluded. Fact-check false really means: likely true but not what you are allowed to believe.
A final footnote here. A major claim of the fact-checkers for more than three years is that it is a conspiracy theory and false that the Wuhan lab conducted gain-of-function research and that the virus was a result of that research and a likely leak. Fauci dismissed this for a very long time, and fact-checkers frequently cited him and said the claim was false.
As a result of the Republican takeover of Congress, we’ve gained more access to the fullness of what was going on in those days. A committee has released an unredacted email dated Feb. 1, 2020, in which Fauci says that Wuhan was engaged in gain-of-function and that this virus might be the result.

At this point, it’s reasonable to assume that nearly every official source on the virus was wrong or lying for years now.
You probably know this. In any case, my intuition here is that we are only at the beginning of discovery of the fullness of the duplicity.
The stakes are very high: American liberty suffered a grave blow during the COVID response.

Faced with imminent contempt of Congress charges, Mark Zuckerberg has finally agreed to cooperate with the GOP probe on Big Tech-government collusion.
House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jim Jordan (R-OH) called off a markup session to formally file contempt of Congress charges against Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg, citing Facebook’s “newfound commitment” to the Judiciary Committee investigation into censorship collusion. However, Jordan hinted at the extent of Facebook’s incestuous relationship with government entities for the purpose of censoring Americans. In a related bombshell revelation, Jordan unleashed the “Facebook Files” on Thursday detailing how the Biden White House coerced Facebook to assault Americans’ First Amendment rights to free speech on its platform.
In a now-viral Twitter thread, Jordan announced what he described as “Never-before-released” internal documents. The information included one email, dated April 2021, from a Facebook employee confirming the Biden regime’s scheme against free speech. “We are facing continued pressure from external stakeholders, including the [Biden] White House and the press to remove more COVID-19 vaccine discouraging content,” one unnamed employee told Zuckerberg and former Meta Chief Operating Officer Sheryl Sandberg.
MRC Vice President Dan Schneider voiced his criticism in reaction to the bombshell release. “Biden’s number one tactic for reelection is silencing conservatives and he is using every tool, legal and illegal, at his disposal to keep the public ignorant of his disastrous performance,” Schneider said. “We should be shocked to see how he and his staff coerced Big Tech to do their illegal bidding, but it is no surprise at all for those who are following this story.” Jordan echoed Schneider's remarks, blasting the Biden administration in an interview on Thursday on Fox News's The Ingraham Angle.

In a separate email, Meta Global Affairs President Nick Clegg implicated former White House Senior Advisor Andy Slavitt as being “outraged” that Facebook did not comply with its censorship demand. Specifically, Clegg said, “[Slavitt] was outraged – not too strong of a word to describe his reaction — that we did not remove this post which was third most highly ranked post in the data we sent to him.”
As if that evidence wasn’t shocking enough, what came next was nothing short of damning. “What did the Biden White House want removed?” asked Jordan in the Twitter thread. “A meme. That’s right, even memes weren’t spared from the Biden White House’s censorship efforts.” The subject meme made a joke about potential COVID-19 vaccine injuries.

The White House censorship demands were so draconian and broad that it ignited Meta’s concerns that Biden was going after constitutionally-protected speech. According to Jordan, “When Clegg ‘countered that removing content like that would represent a significant incursion into traditional boundaries of free expression in the US,’ Slavitt disregarded the warning and the First Amendment.”
One reporter pressed White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre over the newly released information detailing the Biden administration's Orwellian actions. “How much is the White House now working with social media companies to remove concerned posts or things they didn't want,” asked Fox White House Correspondent Edward Lawrence. Jean-Pierre, of course, dodged the question, claiming: “As I’ve repeated many times from here, we have promoted responsible actions to protect public health, safety and security one confronted by challenges like a deadly pandemic and foreign attacks on our elections.”

New emails released by the House Judiciary Committee reveal the Biden Department of Homeland Security created a Stanford University “disinformation” group that censored Americans’ speech before, during, and after the 2020 election. The New York Post reported:
New emails show officials at the Department of Homeland Security created a Stanford University “disinformation” group that censored Americans’ speech before the 2020 election, according to a House Judiciary Committee report exclusively obtained by The Post.

The House panel’s 103-page staff interim report says never-before-seen emails and internal communications were obtained from the group, known as the Election Integrity Partnership (EIP), and show how it worked with DHS’ Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) to flag, suppress and remove online speech in coordination with big tech companies.
One of EIP’s founding partners — the Atlantic Council’s Digital Forensic Research Lab — described CISA’s central role in the alleged censorship effort in a July 31, 2020, email.
“I know the Council has a number of efforts on broad policy around the elections, but we just set up an election integrity partnership at the request of DHS/CISA and are in weekly comms to debrief about disinfo,” the lab’s senior director Graham Brookie wrote.

Uncovered Emails Reveal How Biden Admin Colluded With Facebook To Censor COVID Info​

A nonprofit public interest law firm is shedding light on a conspiracy between President Joe Biden's administration and Facebook to censor social media posts on COVID-19 that ran counter to the official White House narrative – a massive and grave violation of the First Amendment.
Judicial Watch revealed 14 pages of emails between U.S. Surgeon General Vivek Murthy and top Facebook executives, exchanged in 2021, outlining plans and requests to censor and control what information Americans saw about COVID-19 and censoring or suppressing speech that differed with White House policy.
According to Judicial Watch the emails show Facebook executives seeking to “better understand the scope of what the White House expects from us on misinformation going forward.”

“These emails confirm Facebook censored Americans at the direction of the Biden White House and Biden's Surgeon General's political operation,” Judicial Watch President Tom Fitton said. “This is a massive violation of the First Amendment.”
Judicial Watch received the emails in response to its January 13, 2023, Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) lawsuit (Judicial Watch, Inc. v. U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (No. 1:23-cv-00113)) for:
All records, including, but not limited to, electronic mail, texts, memoranda, and handwritten notes, of, regarding, referring, or relating to any efforts of Vice Admiral Vivek H. Murthy, MD, MBA, U.S. Surgeon General, to contact any employee of Facebook, Twitter, TikTok, Instagram, Snapchat, Reddit, YouTube, LinkedIn, Tumblr, and Pinterest concerning COVID-19 or COVID-19 vaccines.
On July 15, 2021, Murthy issued a document titled “Confronting Health Misinformation.” The 22-page document billed itself as an “Advisory on Building a Healthy Information Environment,” and suggested social media be centrally controlled to suppress what the White House deemed “misinformation.”
The White House document laid out suggestions for social media companies, asking them to:

[M]ake meaningful long-term investments … including product changes. Redesign recommendation algorithms to avoid amplifying misinformation, build in “frictions”—such as suggestions and warnings—to reduce the sharing of misinformation, and make it easier for users to report misinformation.

Platforms should also address misinformation in live streams, which are more difficult to moderate due to their temporary nature and use of audio and video.

Prioritize early detection of misinformation “super-spreaders” and repeat offenders. Impose clear consequences for accounts that repeatedly violate platform policies.

Amplify communications from trusted messengers and subject matter experts. For example, work with health and medical professionals to reach target audiences. Direct users to a broader range of credible sources, including community organizations.
The records obtained by Judicial Watch show that on July 16, 2021, the next day, Nick Clegg, vice president of Communications and Global Affairs at Facebook, emailed Murthy:

Dear Vivek,
Reaching out after what has transpired over the past few days following the publication of the misinformation advisory, and culminating today in the President's remarks about us. I know our teams met today to better understand the scope of what the White House expects from us on misinformation going forward.
In our previous conversations I've appreciated the way you and your team have approached our engagement, and we have worked hard to meet the moment – we've dedicated enormous time and resources to fighting this pandemic and consider ourselves to be partners in fighting the same battle. Certainly we understand (and have understood for some time) that there is disagreement on some of the policies governing our approach and how they are being enforced – even as your team has acknowledged the unprecedented scale of our efforts to provide authoritative information to millions of Americans and to help them get vaccinated. But I thought the way we were singled out over the past few days has been both surprising and misleading, and I believe unproductive to our joint efforts too.
I would appreciate the opportunity to speak directly to discuss a path forward with you and how we can continue to work toward what I sincerely believe are shared goals.

Murthy responded on July 19:
Thanks for reaching out and for sharing your concerns. I know the last few days have been challenging. I'd be happy to speak directly about how we move forward. Let me know the best way to schedule some time later this week and we'll make it happen.

Also on July 23, Clegg writes to Murthy, offering help to censor information:

Thanks again for taking the time to meet earlier today. It was very helpful to take stock after the past week and hear directly from you and your team, and to establish our next steps.
We talked about the speed at which we are all having to iterate as the pandemic progresses. I wanted to make sure you saw the steps we took just this past week to adjust policies on what we are removing with respect to misinformation, as well as steps taken to further address the “disinfo dozen”: we removed 17 additional Pages, Groups, and Instagram accounts tied to the disinfo dozen (so a total of 39 Profiles, Pages, Groups, and IG accounts deleted thus far, resulting in every member of the disinfo dozen having had at least one such entity removed).

We are also continuing to make 4 other Pages and Profiles, which have not yet met
their removal thresholds, more difficult to find on our platform. We also expanded the group of false claims that we remove, to keep up with recent trends of misinformation that we are seeing.
We hear your call for us to do more and, as I said on the call, we're committed to working toward our shared goal of helping America get on top of this pandemic. We will reach out directly to DJ to schedule the deeper dive on how to best measure Covid related content and how to proceed with respect to the question around data. We'd also like to begin a regular cadence of meetings with your team so that we can continue to update you on our progress. You have identified 4 specific recommendations for improvement and we want to make sure to keep you informed of our work on each.
I want to again stress how critical it is that we establish criteria for measuring what's happening on an industry-wide basis, not least to reflect the way platforms are used interchangeably by users themselves. We believe that we have provided more transparency, both through CrowdTangle (the flaws of which we discussed in some detail) and through our Top 100 report, than others and that any further analysis should include a comprehensive look at what's happening across all platforms–ours and others – if we are going to make progress in a consistent and sustained manner.

Finally, we will be sending you the latest version of our Top 100 report later today, per our regular schedule. Brian will do the honors this week as it will likely be completed at our end later today East Coast time. We really do hope that we can discuss our approach to this data set in greater detail during our next session with DJ, as we genuinely believe it is an effective way of understanding what people are actually seeing on the platform.

Judicial Watch notes “this is an apparent reference to France Haugen, a pro-censorship former Facebook product manager.”

Judicial Watch adds:
On March 3, 2022, Max Lesko, the surgeon general's chief of staff, emails Clegg and others, “Please see the attached letter from the U.S. Surgeon General for Mark Zuckerberg.” The letter is not included in the documents Judicial Watch received. He continues by asking Clegg and Rice to let him know how he can be helpful with respect to the “Request for Information” which had been sent to the Federal Register.
Some of the subject matter in these documents is discussed in the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals case Missouri v. Biden, Murthy, et al. (No. 23-30445), which the Biden administration lost. The case is now before the U.S. Supreme Court as Murthy, et al. v. Missouri, et al. (No. 23A243).

Twice-failed presidential candidate Hillary Clinton falsely accused the Trump administration of crushing free speech, even though she played a key role in fueling global censorship.

In a Sept. 24 interview on MSNBC’s Morning Joe, Clinton asserted that ABC briefly suspended host Jimmy Kimmel because of pressure from the Trump administration, despite ABC affiliates testifying to the contrary. But legal scholar Jonathan Turley exposed Clinton this year for urging foreign governments to censor Americans.

Clinton sneered, “Good lord, the things that have been said about me, the lies that have been propagated. If I had only known I could call up the FCC chair and say: ‘Take this person off the air. Get that person out of my sight. Off with his head.’”

She asserted this is “contrary to the founding principles and values this country was built on. Why is the First Amendment the First Amendment? You know, it’s because the people who constructed the, you know, architecture of this incredible country of ours understood what it was like to live under absolute power, where you would be told what to say, what not to say.”
