A Knoxville man has been charged with first degree murder and attempted first degree murder after a shooting :guns: on the strip left one person dead and five people hurt early Saturday morning, according to the Knoxville Police Department.

Dispatchers said multiple people reported a loud explosion near Studio X around 3:00 a.m. Saturday.

KPD said investigators took persons of interest to the Safety Building for questioning and have since charged Marquail Patterson, 35.

The identity of the victim who died :rip: has not been released, but KPD said he was target of the shooting.

KPD identified the injured victims; Marking Vaughn was shot in the back, Joshua Wilkerson was shot in the knee, Joseph Mobley was shot in the leg, Carla Lawson was shot in the foot, and Jamaal Smith suffered a cut on his arm while trying to seek safety, according to officers.
