Memphis Carjackings: 36 in 30 Days
Eyewitness News has uncovered that some drivers are making themselves a target for crooks ... from not being aware of their surroundings ... to the type of car they drive.
Police statistics show most carjackers really like GMC's, particularly Yukon's and Denali's.
These carjackings happen all over the city ... they are not just concentrated in one area.
In the past month, most carjackings have occurred in South Memphis (11), East Memphis (8) and North Memphis (7).
Downtown Memphis is the only area with zero carjackings reported.
Brenda Werkheiser was carjacked last month. Her Saturn was taken by an armed gunman. He told her to look away or he'd kill her. She obeyed.
