NASHVILLE, Tenn. - Metro police dogs helped capture a suspected robber who ran from authorities on Tuesday night.

Ray Neil Thompson is accused of robbing two Nashville businesses in the last couple of days.

The 21 Up Video store on White Bridge Road was robbed on Sunday at gunpoint. Police said Thompson had a gun wrapped in cloth and emptied the register. He escaped in a brown, 1980s model Chevrolet or Oldsmobile, said police.

The same model of vehicle was connected to a Tuesday robbery at a Baskin Robbins store on Harding Pike.

The Baskin Robbins heist led police to a home on Chickasaw Avenue in east Nashville, where they found Thompson on Wednesday night.

Police said he ran but K-9 police dogs found him hiding in nearby bushes.

One of the dogs bit Thompson during the arrest, but he's expected to be OK.
