Arrest Made in Alex Perlmutter Murder

Police have arrested 23 year old Levi Alexander in the shooting death of 22 year old Alex Perlmutter.
The shooting took place in East Gwillimbury and Alex was then driven to a parking lot on ninth line in Stouffville by a witness.

Police caught up with Levi on Wednesday May 1, 2019 and arrested him. There are still two outstanding suspects. The two other suspects have been described by investigators only as black men. Police said one of the suspects was wearing blue shoes at the time and the other had on a large chain.

Alex Perlmutter

Passed away tragically on Wednesday, March 27, 2019.
Beloved son of Jane Perlmutter and Shai Perlmutter. Loved brother of Rachel. Loving grandson of Alan and Patricia Bowman, Moshe and Malka Perlmutter. Alex will be sadly missed by his extended family and friends.
A celebration of Alex's life will be held at the Drury Funeral Centre 519 Victoria St. E., Alliston on Friday, April 5, 2019 from 1 - 4 p.m. with memories to be shared at 2 p.m.

Suspect in Elmvale zoo heist released on bail

A second man arrested and accused in the Elmvale zoo heist was released on bail.

Alex Perlmutter, 21, of Ottawa is permitted to live under the supervision of his ex-girlfriend’s mother, Wendy Perry of Durham Region.

There is a temporary publication ban on the details heard at the bail hearing. Perlmutter and his co-accused, Adrian Frei of Mount Albert, who was previously released on bail, are both facing potential penitentiary sentences.

They are charged with break and enter and theft of a lemur, a baby gibbon monkey and a tortoise from the Elmvale Jungle Zoo.
