Virginia Beach Man Charged After Police Say He Shot Puppy
A Virginia Beach man is facing misdemeanor charges of animal cruelty and discharging a firearm after police say he shot a five-month old puppy Tuesday night.
Officials say they were called to the 3300 block of Lakecrest Road around 9:00pm on reports of a firearms violation.
When they arrived they found a female pit bull puppy had been shot. The canine was transported to a local emergency veterinary clinic for treatment.
Authorities say they spent almost thirty minutes looking for a suspect before 35-year old Kenneth Glenn Williams called the Virginia Beach 911

Center claiming he had shot a dog in his front yard.
Officers questioned Williams and claim he a
dmitted to shooting the dog when the animal "came towards him."
Police say no evidence was given or discovered, however, that showed the dog was acting in an aggressive or attacking manner prior to the shooting.
In addition to misdemeanor animal cruelty and misdemeanor discharging a firearm, Williams was served with a felony warrant for issuing bad checks.
The dog, named Jade, continues to recover at a local emergency veterinary hospital.
