A Manhattan murder suspect called the NYPD Crime Stoppers tip hotline on his own self Saturday — but instead of turning himself in, he dared cops to come get him, vowing to end his own life and take some of them down with him.

Joshua Martinez, 33, remains at large in the fatal stabbing of his girlfriend last week.

Carol Nystrom was found dead in her Inwood apartment Thursday, authorities said.

On Saturday, a man police believe was Martinez rang the hotline, a department spokesman said.

“He called in and said he is planning on killing himself by shooting and killing some cops,” the NYPD said.

Nystrom’s Facebook page features a backdrop of butterflies, the beach and flowers. She listed her hobbies as “advocating equality and justice for all, photographing graffiti and urban life.”

Martinez is 5-foot-6, 165 pounds and was last seen wearing a gray Yankees jersey. He is known to hang around Washington Heights and Inwood, cops said.

As authorities hunted the boyfriend wanted for fatally stabbing Nystrom in their Inwood apartment, a longtime friend recalled the victim Friday as someone who remained loyal to her suspected killer despite his troubled past.
The oft-arrested Joshua Martinez, 33, remained in the wind as the victim’s devastated friends were left to mourn her loss.
“She had a very warm heart, and it was impossible for her to believe the worst about anyone,” said Mary Panzer, her friend of 10 years. "She told me numerous times that when Josh was on his meds, he was the sweetest person.
“They would argue, and then they would always make up," said Panzer.

The man suspected of fatally stabbing his girlfriend in her Manhattan pad — and later allegedly threatening suicide by cop — was arrested early Tuesday, officials said.

Joshua Martinez, 33, was taken into custody and charged with murder, assault and harassment, according to police.

“Great investigative work by the 34 Precinct Detective Squad & the Fugitive Enforcement Division,” NYPD Chief of Detectives Rodney Harrison tweeted Tuesday morning. “Joshua Martinez, who was wanted for murder and threatened suicide by cop, was apprehended this morning without incident.”

His girlfriend, Carol Nystrom, 44, was found dead in her Inwood apartment Thursday, authorities said.
