Suspect in String of Robberies, Now Suspected in Seven More
Virginia Beach police believe a suspect in a string of robberies at local convenience stores and restaurants has robbed at least seven more.
Beach police are asking for the public's help in locating this suspect and have released a composite sketch.
The man brandished a hammer in some of the robberies and in others, implied a weapon. He wore a navy blue shirt over his head with eyeholes cut in the
fabric.
The most recent businesses robbed are:
June 4th - A Hardee's in the100 block of Laskin Road was robbed at 10:38pm, and a 7-Eleven in the 400 block of Kings Grant Road was robbed at
11:05pm.
June 6th - Five businesses were robbed starting at 4:00am with the Texaco Zip Mar on Laskin R
oad, then at 10:30am the Rite Aid on Laskin Road & First Colonial Rd., next at 12:35pm the Exxon on Virginia Beach Blvd. & Rosement Rd., at 4:36pm the Rite Aid on Laskin Road & Pacific Ave., and the last robbery occurred at 9:30pm at the Miller Mart on 1700 block of Virginia Beach Blvd.
Police believe he is also responsible for the prior incidents:
May 23rd - A 7-Eleven in the 900 block of South Lynnhaven Road was robbed around 2:40am.
May 27th - A Dunkin Donuts in the 2400 block of Virginia Beach Boulevard was robbed around 11:35pm.
May 28th - Another 7-Eleven, this one in the 1700 block of Virginia Beach Boulevard, was his around 4:50am.
May 30th - Two robberies in
quick succession. First, a Hardee's restaurant in the 3300 block of Virginia Beach Boulevard was robbed around 4:32am. At 4:50am, a 7-Eleven in the 3500 block of Holland Road was also robbed.
May
31st - Another two robberies. The first was a 7-Eleven in the 1900 block of South Independence Boulevard which was hit around 1:15a
m. Then at 10:33pm, a Sentry Food Mart in the 500 block of Birdneck Road was robbed.
The suspect is described as a black male, in his late 30's or early 40's, 5'9" to 6'0" tall, weighing 180-200 pounds. Officials say he has a heavy build and a deep voice. The suspect wears a dark sweatshirt and blue jeans, along with dark gloves and white tennis shoes.
Anyone with information about this suspect or the above robberies is asked to call the Crimeline at 1-888-LOCK-U-UP.
