Jeancine Innocent

Mom Accused Of Violently Shaking Baby
Doctors Say 3-Month-Old Will Remain In Vegetative State If She Survives

POSTED: 9:15 am EST December 20, 2006

DEERFIELD BEACH, Fla. -- A 19-year-old mother was arrested Tuesday on charges that allege she violently shook her 3-month-old daughter, causing serious injury to the infant.

According to the Broward Sheriff's Office, deputies responded to Jeancine Innocent's home at Pine Tree Apartments last Wednesday and found the baby motionless and not breathing in the shower. Paramedics arrived and rushed the girl to Broward General Medical Center, where she remains in critical condition.

Innocent told deputies she was standing outside the bathtub and holding her daughter under the water to give her a shower when the baby slipped out of her hand and fell on her head.

She said the baby cried for a few minutes as she dried her and dressed her. She said she dialed 911 when her daughter went limp and stopped breathing.

Doctors examined the baby and determined that her injuries were consistent with shaken baby syndrome and could not have been suffered in a fall.

BSO detectives said Innocent then admitted to shaking her only child and lying to deputies in her original account of the baby's injuries.

Innocent is charged with aggravated child abuse. She was being held at Broward County's main jail on $7,500 bond.

Attempts to reach the girl's father were unsuccessful.

Doctors said they believe the child has sustained permanent brain damage and will remain in a persistent vegetative state if she survives. Innocent could face murder charges if her daughter dies.

How does one diagnose such a thing with Niglets? Dr. Pierce awaits a second opinion from Buster.

It's like a hedge bet, good doctor.

The terms "brain dead", "brain damaged", "getting their life together", "outgoing", and "honor student", are always applicable to jigaboos.

Just plug one into the appropriate situation at anytime, for mainstream commentary, social, psychological or medical analysis.

Wasn't it AB who was considering making a 'Shake that Nigglet' game? :)

As one of the Niggermania staffers commented, he's never once heard a Mammy speak nicely to their own chillins. Their only way of controlling them is to beat them or scream at them. Better add Shaking to that "How to bring up a Criminal" recipe.

Erie police detectives lead Vincent Davis, 24, into District Justice Joseph LeFaiver's eastside Erie office after being arraigned on charges of murder and aggravated assault in the death of his daughter, Savonnia Davis, 5 months. The baby's parents, Vincent Davis and Jessica Fox, brought the 5-month-old girl to the Saint Vincent Health Center on Tuesday evening. Savonnia Davis died at the Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh on Thursday morning.

Angry that the family dog defecated on the floor, Vincent Davis brutally kicked the dog, then shook his 5-month-old daughter when she began crying, police said.

Savonnia Davis died Thursday, two days after she was injured, at Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh. Erie County Coroner Lyell Cook on Friday ruled her death a homicide.

Vincent Davis is being held without bond in her homicide.

He was also charged with cruelty to animals on accusations that he kicked the family's Jack Russell terrier. The dog, Marley, died of massive internal injuries. Police found the dog's body in a bag of trash on the home's porch.

Davis, 24, sobbed as he was led to his arraignment Friday afternoon at 5th Ward District Judge Joseph LeFaiver's office.

"It was an accident,
"
Davis said as he was led inside. "I didn't kill her."

But police said in a criminal complaint that Davis admitted to becoming angry after finding the dog had defecated and urinated in the home of his longtime girlfriend, Jessica Fox. White? Possible.

Fox had left Davis home alone with the baby at her home in the 200 block of East 30th Street while she went to work Tuesday morning. He frequently stayed at the home, though his official residence is in the 2400 block of Parade Street, police said. Sounds white to me.
"Mr. Davis was upset and proceeded to kick the dog," police said. "A short time later, Mr. Davis found the dog in the back hallway of the residence deceased."

A necropsy -- an autopsy done on anima
ls -- found that Marley suffered two broken ribs and suffered massive internal injuries.

Davis told detectives Wednesday that Savonnia was hurt a short time later when she "slipped out of his hands" when he tried to change her diaper.

But in a second interview with detectives on Thursday, police said, Davis -- a 6-foot-3-inch, 230-pound man with no prior criminal record -- admitted shaking the infant.

He told police that Savonnia "was crying, and Davis picked (her) up and shook her," police wrote in the criminal complaint. "Then (Savonnia) vomited through her mouth and nose."
When Fox returned to the home, she told detectives, Savonnia would not eat. The couple also told police Savonnia became very lethargic, her eyes rolled back into her head, and they were unable to wake her.

Davis called a cab, and he, Fox and the couple's 7-year-old son took Savonnia to Saint Vincent Health Center.

She was flown from there to Children's Hospital that evening.

Detective
Sgts. Jim Spagel and Jon Peters traveled Wednesday to Pittsburgh, where Fox and Davis were at Savonnia's bedside.

Doctors there told the detectives Savonnia suffered fractured ribs, hemorrhaging and cerebral edema.
The injuries were "consistent with nonaccidental trauma," according to the criminal complaint.

Eric Vey, the Erie County forensic pathologist, said Savonnia also had contusions and abrasions on her body that "raised red flags."

Erie police launched a full investigation into the case before Savonnia's death.

"It's been an intensive and difficult investigation," Erie Police Chief Steve Franklin said. "It's difficult enough when it's a homicide, let alone a 5-month-old."

Davis' mother and stepfather, Twanda Davis and Leonard Sly, attended his arraignment Friday.

"He loved that little girl," Sly said of Vincent Davis. "He spoiled her. He loved her so much. I don't know what happened, but he would never have hurt that little girl."
Al
ong with the count of homicide and cruelty to animals, Davis faces charges of aggravated assault, reckless endangerment and endangering the welfare of a child.

His preliminary hearing is scheduled for March 9.

Teen father pleads guilty to child abuse homicide
June 1st, 2009 @ 4:58pm

SALT LAKE CITY -- A teenage father pleads guilty in the death of his 2-month-old daughter. The plea deal spares the teen from a possible murder conviction that carries a mandatory sentence of 15 years to life in prison.

Cleotis Shipman,18, pleaded guilty to child abuse homicide. In exchange, prosecutors dropped the murder and aggravated sexual abuse charges.

When the judge asked Shipman if he willingly admitted to child abuse homicide, Shipman hesitated before answering, "Yes, your honor." Because Shipman hesitated, the judge asked him the question a second time. That time, Shipman answered immediately and wiped away
tears.

Shipman's attorney Catherine Lilly said, "He lost his child in all of this too. He has always accepted his responsibility, his role in this, and at the end of the day, he lost his daughter."

Prosecutors charged Shipman in 2007 after he admitted to shaking his 2-month-old daughter Qiana Marie Shipman.

Prosecutors say the baby was in his care when she was hurt. They say she died from a fatal head injury from repeated blows or shaking. Shipman admitted he shook the baby because she was crying.

When the crime was committed, child abuse homicide was a second-degree felony.

The Legislature made it a first-degree felony last year. As part of the plea deal, Shipman agreed to plead to the first-degree felony charge that carries a penalty of five years to life.

Still, it spares him a mandatory sentence of 15 years to life had he been found guilty of murder.

Shipman's family and friends showed up to support him and were emo
tional. They declined to make any statements.

A judge will sentence Shipman next month. His attorney says the lesson to be learned from this case is education for young parents.

COLUMBIA, SC (WIS) - A man accused of shaking a baby so hard that it died faced a judge Wednesday morning.

According to Maj. John Allard, 23-year-old Alexander Edward Lynch now stands charged with homicide by child abuse.

He appeared before a judge Wednesday for a court-ordered appearance.

An autopsy performed on 2-month-old Rashard Lynch confirmed that the child died from shaken baby syndrome.

Weeping and sobbing, Lynch stood shackled in a Lexington County courtroom Wednesday after deputies say he shook his son Rashard because he wouldn't
stop crying.

Authorities say Lynch called an ambulance to his apartment complex to care for the child while he cared for three other children.

The two-month-old boy later died in a Columbia hospital.

"I wasn't trying to hurt my son. I swear. I was not trying to hurt him. Just an accident," he said in court.

Family there to watch the proceedings didn't want to talk.

"After talking to the individual, he's confessed to shaking the baby very violently. The baby was crying," says Sheriff James Metts.

Lynch's next court date will take place no later than August 20. His bond will be set then.

OAKLAND PARK, Fla. -- An Oakland Park man is arrested, accused of abusing his 5-month-old son.

According to an arrest affidavit, 38-year-old Paul Garry Day called 911 last Thursday when his baby stopped breathing. Police said the child had been crying and Day shook him.

The baby was taken to Holy Cross Hospital and then to Joe DiMaggio Children's Hospital, where doctors determined that the child's injuries were consistent with shaken baby syndrome[
/b], according to the arrest affidavit.

Police said Day also told them he had dropped the baby the week before and that when he grabbed the chlid by the legs he "heard a noise." Doctors found fractures in both the baby's legs, according to the arrest affidavit.

Detectives said Day did not seek medical attention for the baby in that incident and did not tell his wife.

Day was arrested Tuesday and charged with aggravated child abuse and child neglect. He was taken to the Broward County Jail, and his bond is set at more than $13,000.

The child remains in critical condition.
