Fourth suspect charged in Sag Harbor rape
Southampton teen joins three others who allegedly raped a 15-year-old girl in Sag Harbor

A fourth suspect was charged Friday with raping a 15-year-old girl earlier this week in Sag Harbor.

Shakeem R. Davis, 16, of Southampton, pleaded not guilty to second-degree burglary and first-degree rape and criminal sex act before Judge Lisa Rana in East Hampton Town Justice Court.

Davis, a 10th-grader at Southampton High School who lives with his grandmother and three sisters, was arrested Thursday, hours after three other Southampton men were arrested in connection with the rape. His bail was set at $20,000.

His sisters, who sat in the back of the court during his arraignment, declined to comment

Kourtney Hughes, 21, Brandon Jackson, 19, and Paul J. Ward, 19, were charged with first-degree rape and criminal sex act. Hughes was released recently from Suffolk County jail in Riverhead after doing time for a robbery, Sag Harbor police Lt. Thomas Mackey said.

Mackey added he plans to charge the three men with burglary and criminal trespassing for being in the house where the rape allegedly occurred without permission from the owner at the time the search warrant was executed.

The girl had met one of the suspects at a community teen event some time ago, Mackey said, and did not have a romantic relationship with him.

On Tuesday, the suspect was supposed to pick her up with one friend, but showed up with three. They stopped at a 7-Eleven and proceeded to the summer house of the grandfather of one of the suspects, where the girl was allegedly raped.

"It's a real tragic incident," Mackey said. "The victim is doing as well as can be expected under the circumstances."

Mackey would not specify which of the suspects the girl knew or whose grandfather owns the house.

The homeowner has signed affidavits against all four individuals, including his grandson, for being in the house without permission, Mackey said.

He said they have evidence that the suspects were coming and going from the house and are looking into the possibility that someone changed the locks.
