Woman arrested in shoplifting incident drops pants in cell, cops say

Bayonne police got more than they bargained for after a shoplifting incident turned into an X-rated affair when a woman allegedly removed her pants, exposed her genital area and revealed a crack pipe and other items, police said.
Bayonne Police Capt. Walter Rogers said police responded to the ShopRite on Avenue C at 2 p.m. Sunday on reports of a shoplifting incident and found Sherra Spring, 29, of Jersey City, arguing with a security officer who said he saw her place several items in a ShopRite grocery bag. The items totaled $24.96.
Rogers said while officers spoke to the security guard, Spring allegedly made an attempt to strike a police officer.
Police transported her to headquarters and placed her in an empty cell where “she jumped on one of the benches and removed her pants, exposing her genital area,” said Rogers. “She had items hidden in that area.”
On closer inspection, officers allegedly retrieved a glass crack pipe, a $1 bill that contained a “green leafy substance believed to be marijuana” and $41 in cash, Rogers said.
