OMERVILLE, Mass. —

A man charged in the shooting death of his roommate in Somerville was held without bail Thursday.

Edson Moreno, 26, was arrested Wednesday after an incident inside a two-family home on Ware Street.

Middlesex County District Attorney Marian Ryan said the victim, identified as 22-year-old Robert Favreau, of Cambridge, was found inside the home suffering from a gunshot wound.

He was pronounced dead a short time after first responders arrived.

Favreau and his sister were staying with the accused gunman, according to authorities.

Ryan said when police arrived, they encountered a man, Moreno, outside the home with a gun. Investigators said Moreno was a resident inside the Ware Street home, and the victim had been staying with him for several months.

Ryan said the victim and Moreno allegedly got into a verbal altercation Wednesday evening that escalated to the shooting.

The victim's sister, who was also staying in the apartment, was hiding in the closet during the argument that led to the shooting that killed Favreau. Police credit her 911 call from the closet as a big help in the quick arrest.
