Posted By: Timothy Donley

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – A 17-year-old man has been charged in connection to a robbery on Saturday.

Jackson County Prosecutor Jim Kanatzar charged Willie J. Steeles of Kansas City with second degree robbery and resisting a lawful stop.

According to court documents, Steeles and a second suspect allegedly bumped a second vehicle in the parking lot of Super Flea flea market at St. John and Belmont around 2 p.m. Saturday. After getting out to inspect the damage, Steeles allegedly forced the driver of the other vehicle out of her car and drove away in it while his accomplice drove off in the suspect vehicle.

Police were able to locate the stolen vehicle around 4 p.m. Tuesday near 60th and Swope Parkway. They attempted to stop the vehicle, but it fled the area and was later found abandoned in the 6800 block of Bales. Steeles was taken into custody by police a short time later. The second suspect has been turned over the Johnson County, Kan., authorities for unrelated charges.

Prosecutors have requested a $150,000/10-percent or secured bond.
