BNP claims a 'deluge' of support

The BNP says its message is getting a good reaction
The British National Party says it has been "deluged" with calls of support by voters in response to a mass leafleting of voters via the Royal Mail.
Spokesman Phil Edwards said people were reacting with a "sense of relief that they found us".

But he stopped short of making a prediction for how well his party would do in local, European and London mayoral elections on Thursday.

"We are in line to gain a lot more members joining the party," he said

Dr Edwards attacked the main political parties for refusing in a number of cases to join BNP candidates on the same platform at hustings meetings.

Illegal

And he criticised elements
of the media for "starving" the BNP of publicity leaving the public with a stereotype of them as a part
y of "hateful bigots with skinheads and swastikas" while at the same time "talking up UKIP".

Dr Edwards said voters had never been asked if they wanted Britain to become a multicultural society.

"We've become a dumping ground - all asylum seekers are here illegally by definition.

"The fact they've passed through every friendly country on their way means they are not coming here for asylum - they come here because they know they will get everything on the plate."

He added: "It's not race, it's space."

Asked to give his best guess as to how the BNP would perform on Thursday, he would only say: &quo
t;We are optimistic about the results - we are receiving a lot of support."
