June 7 - Three Bend men from Mexico have been arrested on rape and other charges in connection with numerous alleged assaults on a 12-year-old Bend girl. The trio, two of whom are brothers, face likely deportation by federal authorities, police said Monday.

The victim was taken into custody on May 26 as a missing person, according to police Lt. Jim Porter. After an interview with the victim and an initial investigation, it was determined that she had been the victim of numerous and varying sexual assaults, Porter said in a news release.

The same day, Romulo Santos-Elias, 21, was
arrested, and remained in jail Monday, on three counts each of second-degree rape and first-degree sex abuse, jail officials said.

The continuing investigation led to the arrest last Thursday of Gere

mias Jocobo Angeles, 24, on s
econd-degree rape and second-degree sex abuse charges. The third suspect, Bartolo Santos-Elias, was arrested Monday on charges of second-degree rape, first-degree attempted sexual abuse, second-degree sodomy and second-degree unlawful sexual penetration.

Investigators said the three men had established a relationship with the girl when they lived near her. This led to the suspects allowing the victim to visit and often stay at their residences, Porter wrote.

All three of the suspects were from the same town in Mexico, where they had been friends, the lieutenant said.

Bail was set at $50,000 to $150,000 for the three men, but a jail officer said the first two men arrested were being held without bail on a detainer by federal immigration officials,
and a similar hold was expected on the third suspect.

Spics are much like n-ggers it seems, neither seem to have any compunction about raping children, the innocent, the elderly, the disabled, etc..

These beans need to be strung up and hung like the vermin they are.

en the victim of numerous and varying sexual assaults, Porter said in a news rel
ease.

On the same day, Romulo Santos-Elias, 21, was arrested and remained held this week on three counts each of second-degree rape and first-degree sex abuse, jail officials said.

The continuing investigation led to the arrest last Thursday of Geremias Jocobo Angeles, 24, on second-degree rape and second-degree sex abuse charges. The third suspect, Bartolo Santos-Elias, 20, was arrested Monday on charges of second-degree rape, first-degree attempted sexual abuse, second-degree sodomy and second-degree unlawful sexual penetration.

Investigators said the three men had established a relationship with the girl when they lived near her. This led to the suspects allowing the victim to visit and often stay at th
eir residences, Porter wrote.

The incident had taken place since April, Porter said. The girl, who lives with her mother, had been on runaway status a series of times,

That isn

oing to happen.

Lt. Jim Porter Bend police, promising rape suspects won't b
e deported without first facing charges the officer added.

All three suspects were from the same town in Mexico, where they had been friends, the lieutenant said. Asked whether drugs were involved in the incidents, Porter said that portion of the investigation has not been completed.

Bail was set at $50,000 to $150,000 for the three men, but a jail officer said the first two men arrested were being held without bail on a detainer by federal immigration officials, and a similar hold was expected on the third suspect, once a response is received from the Bureau of Immigration and Customs Enforcement.

Porter said state law does not allow police to ask suspects if they are in the country legally, bu
t assured they would not be deported without facing the charges filed against them.

That isn't going to happen, the lieutenant said Tuesday. If convicted of the charges, he said, t
hey serv
e time, and the minute they step out the (prison) door, they are returned to Mexico
.

This is a recurring problem, Porter said, recalling investigation of a similar abuse incident in 1995. That was the first such incident we'd even heard of. Unfortunately, it's become more prevalent since then.
