NEW YORK (1010 WINS/WCBS 880) — A woman was asked to leave the Citipups NYC Chelsea location on Friday afternoon for allegedly kicking kennels containing puppies. On her way out, she was caught on video slapping another woman across the face.

A video depicting the event was first posted to the Instagram story of Citipups’ viral meme account @jeremy.the.manager on Saturday. It was reuploaded to the official @citipupsnyc account story on Sunday.

“This lady was kicking the puppy kennels extremely hard so we Told her to leave,” the video caption begins, though the alleged kicking was not caught on camera.

“I kind of yelled from across the store, I’m like ‘Hey you can’t do that,’ and then she goes and kicks it again even harder,” Emilio, the store's manager, told 1010 WINS/WCBS 880.

The video shows the woman attempting to grab the phone from the employee recording, unsuccessfully. He can be heard saying “What is wrong with you, what is wrong with you” as she tries to snatch the device.

She knocks a container of pens off the front desk before walking past a woman in the store and forcefully hitting her across the face. Before exiting the door, the assailant can be seen leaning back inside and spitting toward the woman she assaulted.

“The [victim] was bleeding, and she was crying and stuff, and she was here with her friends from Texas and it was her first time in New York ever,” Emilio said.

In a follow-up story to the video, the accounts posted a few clarifications about the incident.

“The woman who was assaulted filed a police report. The people she was with tried to keep the violent lady in front of the shop & even followed her down the block but by the time the cops got here she got away,” the post read.

The NYPD could not confirm the police report regarding the assault to 1010 WINS/WCBS 880.

In a second follow-up story, the account put a screenshot of a news article by Fox 17 WZTV Nashville headlined “Woman arrested for allegedly punching 81-year-old lady at Nashville airport.” A photo of a woman is visible in the article, and the post included a newsreel explaining the Nashville assault.

“Someone sent us this story from sept. 2023. We think it might be the same person but we’re not 100% sure…” the post read.

“Somebody sent me a news article from like September of last year of a woman who looks just like her and did literally the—every single thing that happened at our store, she did it at like I guess some other place in Nashville,” Emilio said.

It is only speculation that the assailant is the same woman who committed the assault in Nashville.
